Forty Six

Jaden

I couldn't find the courage to close my eyes. Jaysea has been asleep the past two hours and I just can't sleep. I can't let anything hurt her again. If I just wouldn't had let her leave!

I kissed her forehead before sliding out of the bed and walking towards the kitchen. I got a cup out of the cupboard and filled it with some water. I downed it almost immediately. I found myself more thirsty than I thought I was

"Hey" I heard Josh's raspy voice behind me signaling his tiredness

"Hey" I responded

"How's she doing?" He asked me as he grabbed a glass for water to

"It's a lot" I said to him. I could already feel tears threateningly spill

"What is?" He asked me

"I should have been there for her" I sighed feeling tears threatening to spill

"What are you talking about?" He questioned confused

"I should have been there!" I felt anger rise in my voice and I smashed the cup in the ground. Millions of tiny little glass shards exploded

"Ah" I heard josh wince as he held his arm

A piece had flown up and cut his arm making me realize what I just did

"I'm sorry" I said wiping my tears

"What the fuck is going on with you?" He asked placing a paper towel over his wound

"I...I can't" I felt my emotions take over

"Jaden" he said calmly

My eyes met him but I couldn't see due to my watery eyes

"I feel like I'm doing all of this wrong. I can't fix it" I cried sitting down at the island stools

"What can't you fix?" He asked confused

"I wasn't there. I couldn't help her. She needed me and I wasn't there. I WASN'T THERE JOSH!" I exclaimed talking with my hands as tears rolled down my cheeks

"Jaden, I need you to calm down right now. Just breath. In through your nose out through your mouth. Okay?"

Josh

Jaden is really fucking freaking me out. I wish I knew how to help I just don't. I don't even know what's going on

He began breathing calmly and nodded slightly at me

"Okay, Jaden just tell me what happened" I said stepping around the glass broken on the floor

"He hurt her" he responded Grinting his teeth

What?

"What hurt who?" I asked him

"He hurt Jay" he said

"Who did Jaden?" I asked again

"That mother fucker from high school" he said his anger rose

Jacob?

"What are you talking about? He's in Canada" I told him

"Well clearly not because he raped her 3 hours ago" he said angrily

"What?" I asked shocked

"Josh, he hurt her. My girl h...he hurt her" I could tell his emotions were taking over

"Okay" I said

I reached my hand out signaling I wanted him to follow me. He stepped over the glass and followed me into the living room

I pulled him into a tight hug which he returned and cried his eyes out.

Why would he do that to her? Why come back after all these years? It doesn't make sense. However he will get what's coming to him

Jaden

"I'm gonna go back to jaysea" I told Josh standing up from the lounge

"Okay" he smiled sympathetically

I walked back towards our bedroom and Jay was sleeping soundly in the bed. I lifted my shirt over my head and pulled down my sweats

I laid down next to her and wrapped my arm around her waist pulling her into my chest. Her body flinched and she tried to pull away

"No, please" she whined pulling away

I let go of her in shock. She jumped out of the bed

"Don't hurt me" she cried cowering on the floor

"I won't hurt you I promise" I said lightly standing up with my hands in the air

She flinched and booked it to the bathroom and locked the door behind her

"Please don't hurt me" she whispered on the other side of the door

"Baby, it's me. Jaden" I said through the door

This breaks my heart

"Jaden?" She questioned opening the door

I nodded as she stared at me

"Jaden!" She exclaimed running towards me. She jumped up wrapping her legs around my waist.

"Hi babygirl, it's me" I whispered on her neck

"He was gonna get me" she whispered back

"No he wasn't love, I was there the whole time okay?" I told her and she nodded

"Im not gonna let him hurt you" I whispered walking us over to the bed

I held her back as I lowered her onto the bed. I laid down next to her on my back and she immediately cuddled into my chest

"Don't leave me" she said tracing shapes on my pectorals

"Never" I whispered to her before kissing her forehead

I can't bare seeing her like this. She thought I was him. What am I gonna do?
