The kingdom was quiet. Busy, like always, but also quiet.

Why was the kingdom quiet, you ask?

A stranger has come.

He was tall, quiet. He wore a platinum white mask with a simple smiley face on it, that both struck relief and fear within the people's hearts.

He had a forest green cape with a hood on, which covered most of his dirty blonde hair. Underneath the cape was a muted brown tunic paired with black leggings and deep brown walking boots that have definitely seen better days. The stranger also wore dark fingerless gloves, that seemed to only be there to aid his grip on his sword, which was currently residing in its scabbard.

The stranger walked towards a bakery, it's only inhabitant being the baker inside. He noticed how similar he and the baker inside looked, the main difference being their facial decor, the baker's glasses, and the stranger's mask.

The baker turned around to greet the newcomer once he heard the bell above the door. The baker noted how tall the masked stranger was. He wasn't exactly a short stack himself, but he noted that, at best, he'd reach the stranger's shoulders.

"Hello, how may I help you?" The baker asked. The stranger didn't say anything. Instead, he started making gestures with his right hand, one of which the baker recognized as an 'L'.

"I-I'm sorry, sir, I don't understand that." The stranger just nodded as he turned to leave. That is until the baker spoke up again. "B-but I have some paper and a quill! You can write if you can't speak."

The masked stranger nodded as the baker ran to the back to find some paper and quill.

The stranger noticed how similar he and the baker looked. Dirty blonde hair and green eyes, something that he knew the baker couldn't see behind his mask. He took as many precautions regarding his identity.

The last thing he needed was the King knowing that he was in the kingdom.

"I found them!" The baker announced, holding a few sheets of paper, a quill, and an inkpot.

The masked stranger nodded as a silent 'thank you' as he started writing on the paper.

'Do you know the most direct way into the castle?'

"Um, y-yeah, I do, actually. I have a couple of friends who are in the Royal Guard. I can ask them to let you in if you want."

The stranger nodded graciously, resembling a bobblehead.

'If it's not too much trouble? I need to get into the castle.'

"Why though, if you don't mind me asking?"

'I have some...unfinished business with the "king".'

"Y-you're not going to kill him, are you...?" The baker asked, now a bit scared of the silent stranger.

The stranger shook his head, and wrote one simple sentence in response;

'I'm here to take back what he stole from me'

A long time ago, there were two brothers, both in love with the same woman. A princess from a distant kingdom.

Both princes kept trying to woo the princess, bringing what they thought their best attribute was.

The older of the two showcased his warrior skills and promised the princess that their son would be the most valiant warrior that had ever walked the earth.

Meanwhile, the younger of the two showed his cunningness, and promised the princess that their son would not only be strong, but also cunning, and could outwit even the wisest mage.

After years of the two brothers fighting over the princess, she finally made her decision. She decided to marry a kind and quiet farmer boy, who was not the strongest, nor the smartest, but he was kind and true.

The two brothers were furious and set a curse upon their kingdom.

"We will reincarnate every hundred years to fight for the princess's hand until she makes her final choice."

The two princes still married separate women, but neither was as beautiful as the princess they vied for.

Every chapter will have this sort of backstory thing, just so you know.

Who is the mysterious masked stranger?
Who is the baker?
And who is the King, and what (or who) did he steal?

Any and all theories are welcome!

I won't update this book often, since I do have school and I currently have 2 books (Skephalo and DNF respectively) that get updated every other day, mostly bc both books are completed, I just have yet to post all their chapters. This is just a side project of mine.
