When the doors opened for Draco and (Y/N), for the two it felt like time stood still. They joked in whispers as they walked down the steps, students already on the floor whispering about their entrance. Of course, most were waiting for the champions to enter, but Blaise, Eris, Lucia, Dmitri had all been waiting for the two to enter.
"You both look absolutely stunning!" Lucia excitedly told them, to which Draco replied with a smile and a polite "thank you, Lucia."
Dorothy introduced herself to (Y/N), and the Hufflepuff couldn't help but rave about the Ravenclaw's dress, telling her that the royal purple color looked absolutely stunning on her, along with the star hairpieces that had been placed throughout her updo.
That's how most of the time went for the moment as they all waited for the champions to enter. Finally, the horns sounded, the doors opened, and the orchestra began a dreamy tune as the champions walked in through the door. The group of friends waved to Fleur, who excitedly gave them a small wave.
(Y/N) missed Cedric's subtle, sad look, but turned his face forward with a steel expression, biting his lip as he smiled hearing Cho whisper a joke in his ear. Lucia had been whispering about Hermione's dress as the champions entered, and she couldn't help but agree the pink looked lovely on the Gryffindor.
The champions danced for a bit until the crowd was invited to join them, Draco turning to his Hufflepuff date to ask her to dance. Of course, she agreed and joined in between Lucia and Eris and Dmitri and Aleksander for the waltz.
The music wasn't entirely waltz-y the whole night, the genre quickly changing to a lineup of Weird Sisters songs. They danced in a large group, laughing and chatting and overall enjoying their time. They ate, drank punch, and chatted as all normal teenagers do, slow dancing with their dates every once in a while.
The Yule Ball was coming to a close in half an hour, and it was the second to the last slow dance of the night. Lucia and Eris had already left for the night, and Fleur was off somewhere with Roger, leaving Blaise and Dorothy along with Draco and (Y/N) on the floor to sway as they listened to the music.
Halfway through the song, (Y/N) looked up at the Slytherin Prince, a question on the tip of her tongue; "Draco, what exactly are we? Where is this headed?"
He had thought about that quite a bit himself, biting his lip as he delved into his thoughts for a moment. The Hufflepuff waited eagerly for him to answer: "I like you, (Y/N). A lot. And I'd like for you to be a permanent part of my life."
Draco couldn't help his smile as he continued to speak. "You're a ray of sunshine in my cloudy world, and it'd be a really stupid move for me to let you go, so," (Y/N) couldn't help the way her heart skipped a beat, waiting to see what he still had to say. "It'd be an honor for you to be my girlfriend."
(Y/N) smiled, her heart beating like crazy as she quietly laughed. She nodded first before verbally answering him, "I'd like that very much, Draco."
We'll be a fine line, we'll be alright
