"Fleur, are you sure about this?"
A sigh came from the Beauxbatons student as she gave Lucia another stern look. "Yes, Lu. Trust me on this. Light, natural makeup will look nice with your brightly colored dress."
"She has a point," Eris called, finishing her mascara in the mirror.
(Y/N) chuckled as she saw Lucia's pout in the mirror, putting the finishing highlight on her cheeks and cupid's bow. Fleur gave the anxious Hufflepuff a few more reassurances until she turned it back on the Triwizard champion by asking about Roger Davies. "I think he really likes you, Fleur."
"That's just the Veela charm I have on him. You know that cute Weasley boy asked me too?"
"Ron?" (Y/N) called in question just as Eris let out a small snort.
Fleur giggled but sighed, albeit wistfully. "Cute boy. It was nice to see he tried."
"Isn't he going with one of the Patil girls?"
Lucia nodded, earning a scolding from Fleur to not move her head too much. "I'm almost finished, Lu!"
"Sorry!"
The mild chatter continued, and not long after the girls were dressing up to head down to the hall. "I've got to meet up with the other champions and Roger since we're entering together," Fleur explained, giving her friends small hugs. "We'll meet up afterward, yes?"
"Of course, doll," Eris gave a wave and the three girls watched her slip out the dormitory door and down the stairs. "(Y/N), I think Lucia and I are going to head down to the hall."
The other Hufflepuff gave her two friends a thumbs up. "I'll meet you guys down there. Draco and I agreed to meet up near the Slytherin dormitory before heading there ourselves."
In agreement, the three friends walked down the stairs and exited the Hufflepuff dormitory, bidding one another goodbye. The halls were dark as she made her way to the dungeons, passing a few Slytherin students on the way. She even gave Blaise and his date a small wave, which was returned with a smile.
There was a hallway right off the turn to the dungeons that had a bench, and (Y/N) decided that was the perfect place to sit and wait. Shoes could be heard echoing through the hall, and as the dance drew closer, she couldn't help her nervousness. Throughout their friendship, Draco and she hadn't been very public about it. Basically, their friends knew that they hung out a lot.
"(Y/N)?"
Cedric's voice cleared the silent air, and she looked up at him with curiosity. He figured he must have been on his way to pick up Cho. "Good evening, Cedric. She wasn't expecting him to sit down next to her. "I know it's been a while. Um, how have...how have you been?"
(Y/N) raised an eyebrow. They hadn't spoken since the incident at Hagrid's, where he had confessed that he wanted to get back together. "I've been alright. Lucia, Eris, and I have been excited for tonight."
The other Hufflepuff looked around the corridor as he spoke: "Speaking of which, where are they?"
"Lucia and Eris are already down at the dance hall. They went with each other."
"I see. And you don't have a date?"
Draco's voice echoed through the hallway, allowing a smile to fall onto (Y/N)'s lips. "He's here now."
Cedric awkwardly stood up, brushing off his dress pants before giving a soft nod. "Ah, I see. Well then, um, have a good evening."
The two watched as he walked away, assumingly to get Cho from the Ravenclaw dormitory. "What was that all about?" Draco asked after a moment, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
(Y/N) just shrugged. "I'm not sure, but I hope he didn't keep Cho waiting."
"I didn't keep you waiting, did I?"
The Hufflepuff laughed, which brought a smile to Draco's face. "Not at all. Let's go, Lucia and Eris are dying to see you. Earlier they couldn't stop talking about you."
Draco laughed. "In a moment, I have something for you." Gently he opened the box he was holding, revealing a corsage that matched his boutonnière. "Blaise helped me pick it out. I hope you like it."
(Y/N) chuckled softly, and carefully let him slip the corsage onto her wrist. "It's beautiful, Draco. I'll have to thank Blaise later."
With that, he offered her his arm, and together they walked through the halls to the dance, excited to see the champions and their friends.
And we can treat people with kindness
