Chapter 12

Draco's POV

     This morning I received a letter from my mum. Before opening, it hit me that I was given a task a while back and I never completed it.

Draco,

The Dark Lord wants to meet with you later. The meeting will be held at Knockturn alley. Please don't be late.

Mum

  A lump in my throat forms. I knew this wasn't going to end well. Today I have a class with Hero and I definitely don't feel like seeing her. She would probably make me feel better but I know I would not be able to hide my anger.

    As I'm heading out of Hogwarts I walk past Snape's class and she's standing outside the door waiting for me.

Great.

      "Hey," she greets me. "Daphne isn't feeling well so if you want to maybe sit together-"

       "I'm really not in the mood, Green." I cut her off.

     Her eyes widen and she gets quiet. "Is everything alright?"

      I groan dramatically and start walking away from her.

     "You don't get to do that." She snaps. "Just tell me what's wrong..."

     "Nothing was wrong until you started talking!" I shout back at her.

I really need to learn to keep my mouth shut.

     I expect her to look sad but instead, she's angry. Most girls would just run away crying but Hero? She's going to let you know you're a git.

       "I'm sorry, I just-"

      She interrupts me instantly. "You do realize you are not the only person in the world with problems, right?"

            "I said I'm sorry okay?" I mutter.

      "Just stop!" She yells. "I'm trying so hard with you, Draco. Look around. Do you see anyone else doing the same?"

              No.

     "When you're ready to try also, you can come find me."

    I want to try and apologize but I feel there's no point. So I turn around and walk out the door.

Hero's POV

       "Is everything alright, Hero?"

   I spin around aggressively and see Professor Snape standing beside me. He must have heard all of that.

    "I'm alright, thank you."

   I start to head to my seat but Snape pulls me aside.

    "Mr. Malfoy is involved with a lot of horrid people," He says quietly so no one else can hear. "Please don't get yourself involved too."

      What is he talking about?

    I smile and nod before heading to my seat. Daphne really is sick so I'll be sitting alone today, which is for the better. When Snape starts talking I try my best to pay attention but my mind keeps wandering back to Draco. How could he act like that after last night? When I asked if things were going to go back to how they were I didn't actually believe they would.

   It has been two days since Draco and I talked. What's even worse is no one has even seen him at school. He didn't show up to any of his classes and when I asked Blaise he said he wasn't sleeping in his room.

   It's the end of another day and everyone's out doing their own thing. I head up to the dorms hoping they'll be empty but unfortunately Pansy is inside. Before entering I quickly turn around and go back upstairs. No one is around so the halls are quiet. I take a seat on one of the windowsills and open my textbook.

    After a few minutes of reading, I hear footsteps heading towards the school's exit. When I look around the corner I see Professor Snape sneaking out the door. A weird feeling comes over me and I get the urge to follow him.

            Just do your schoolwork, Hero.

     The feeling doesn't go away. I rub my eyes and sigh, then get up from the window and follow Snape out the front door.

     I follow Snape all the way to the train station and sit in a compartment on the opposite side in case he decides to roam around. The Hogwarts Express stops at Kings Cross and I see Snape exit. Before the doors close I hop out and continue following him to an unknown destination.

     Snape goes through the brick wall into Diagon Alley. The last time I was here I bought my wand. It hasn't changed at all.

    He passes the Weasley Brothers shop then makes a sudden left turn into a dark alleyway. I had never seen this area of Diagon before.

    It's almost completely dark. The walls feel as if they're closing in the further I go in. Snape goes down a small staircase and before entering the door at the bottom he looks around to make sure no one is watching. I quickly duck down behind a bench.

        Just turn around.

     My body continues forward towards the door. When I put my ear up to it there's no sound. I take a deep breath, then open it.

Draco's POV

    When I left Hogwarts I had a feeling I wasn't going to be coming back. After what happened with Hero I didn't really want to return.

    When I got to Knockturn alley there were only a few other death eaters around. That's when I realized my mum didn't write that note.

    The Dark Lord was definitely not happy with me.

   It has been two days since I arrived here. Nothing happened at first which I thought was a good sign. But this morning two death eaters dragged me into a large room and told me The Dark Lord was going to meet with me later tonight. Every once in a while they come in and put a Cruciatus curse on me until I pass out. Each time I wake up I lose more hope.

   I open my eyes and see Snape walking in the door with the two death eaters. My stomach drops. Does he know what The Dark Lord asked me to do?

   The door opens again and I expect it to be him, but it's not.
