The forbidden love

Chapter 6

I got up, put my pajamas on, brushed my teeth and went back to bed. I was almost falling asleep when a felt my phone vibrating on my hand. I unlocked it and saw it was a message from Drew.

Drew: Same time tomorrow?
Me: Tomorrow already?
Drew: Yeah, why wait, right?
Me: Sure, the same time is good. - I tipped, but before I could send it I looked at Ava sleeping on her bed and I remembered what she said to me. Then I erased everything.
Me: Actually, tomorrow I'm kinda busy.

I send it, locked the phone and put it underneath my pillow.
I really wanted to go out with him tomorrow but Ava was right I couldn't use him to make up for my lack of someone. It wasn't good for me and it definitely wasn't good for him. So, I did the right thing saying I'm gonna be busy, even though I'm not.
I closed my eyes trying to sleep and it didn't take long till I did.

I woke up abruptly, jumping on my bed, crying and panting. I looked around and saw it was still dark, Ava was still asleep and everything seemed totally normal. But not inside of me.
I took my phone and saw it was almost 5am, then I got up, filled a glass with water and sat on my bed to drink it. My heart was beating so fast I could barely breath.
I had a dream, a nightmare, a terrible nightmare.
I was with Ava at the airport waiting for the departure time to go visit my family in California. As soon as I got on the plane I set up myself and put on my headphone to sleep during the flight. But a few hours after, we started having some troubles, there was a lot of turbulence and the pilot said it seemed like there was a problem with the engine, and that he and the copilot were trying to do something but there was nothing they could do. I freaked out. Suddenly we started falling so fast I could barely keep myself on the seat, and then it was too late. The roof of the plane flew away and the people started getting pulled out by the wind. The plane was literally falling apart and losing its parts. I could see those people flying away through the hole and I couldn't stop crying. That's when I woke up.

I finished drinking the water and I got out of the room, I shouldn't be outside because it was still dark and the guard was probably gonna be extremely mad, but I just couldn't be in the room, I needed air.
I left the building and went to the college's lake, then I sat on the wooden bench next to it and just admired the water flowing. Soon enough the sun started to clear the sky and I saw some ducks coming in my direction. I didn't have any food with me to give them but I found some bread on the floor, it seemed new, probably someone was feeding them last night, then I took it and threw it to them. When the bread ran out I got up and started wandering around the lake.
You know, we are always so sure that we are immortal, that those things we see on the news are never going to happen to us, but how can we know? Life is so delicate, WE are so delicate, a car, a bug, a snake, a poison, a knife, a plane.. Absolutely everything can end us. We are just a little entity in this enormous universe, a reasoning being that feels and talks but we are nothing but this, an entity. We are used to think that we can do anything, and I do believe we can, we can do anything we want but for how long? We don't have an expiry date 'cause we can die at any moment and yet we just waste our time worrying about things that doesn't really matter, you know? We worry about the outfit, about our make-up, about our hair, our nails, about those little moments that are nothing compared to all the time we have. But how much time do we have? We don't know. We CAN'T know. If we knew how long we would live, things would be so different. We would be so different. We would be so real, because we would know that we wouldn't have time to fake things, to fake friends, to fake chats, to fake lives, nothing. We would do only what we truly appreciate, what we truly want and love. And maybe if we all think like that, the world would be such a better place for all the living things.

I kept rambling until a heard the bell, it was 7 o'clock, so I went to the cafeteria to get something to eat. I was the first one to get there, most of the students were waking up past noon because it's vacation, so there's never too much people around here in the morning. I remember, when I came here to visit Ava last summer, there was so much people walking around and chatting and running to get to class, I guess that's what made me want UB so bad, I could literally feel the energy of everyone, and I just loved it.
I grabbed a coffee and a donut and as soon as I finished eating I went back to the room. I walked in in silence because I knew Ava would be still sleeping, and I was right, so I just brushed my teeth and laid on bed. I took my phone and stared at the message I had sent to Drew last night, which he had replied with "Oh, ok. Let me know when you are available."
Fuck it. After dying on my sleep and all those thoughts I couldn't just let him walk away from my life. I couldn't pretend like I didn't want to go out with him and I couldn't play hard to get. I wanted him and would get him.

Me: You know what? I'm actually looking forward to see you tonight. - I texted.
Drew: Wow, happy to read that.
He replied an hour later, while I was watching TVD, and we kept talking.

Two, maybe three hours later Ava woke up.
Me- Wow, good morning sunshine.
Ava- What time is it?
Me- Almost noon.
Ava- Damn, what are doing up?
Me- I couldn't sleep.
Ava- Everything ok?
Me- Yeah, sure. - I got up. - Come on, let's go?
Ava- Go where?
Me- I dont know, do something, anything. I've been laying on this be the hole morning, I just wanna stretch my legs.
Ava- Let me wake up first.
Me- I'll give you 30 minutes to get dressed, while I find something to do.
Ava- I'm gonna text Topper and ask him to let us use his pool.
Me- His what? Are you crazy? It's cold outside.
Ava- Damn, you're right.
Me- Let's go the cinema.
Ava- I'm definitely gonna sleep during the movie.
Me- I don't care, just get up and get dressed.
Ava- Fine. - She got up.

While she was getting ready I put some jeans, a basic black shit, a white snickers and brushed my teeth. As soon as Ava got ready we called an Uber and headed to the mall, where we would go to the cinema. We bought our tickets and some candy and headed to the dark room. The movie was great, Ava did sleep during half of the movie but it's ok, I was happy she was there with me, at least. We left the cinema and went to get something to eat, but it was still 3pm and the lines were too long, so we decided we would order something at home. We walked around the stores, checking some clothes and shoes then we went back home and ordered two burgers with fries and a large Coke.
The clock was ticking and I knew I had to tell Ava I was going out with Drew again but I couldn't find the right moment, until SHE invited me out.
