10. The Turning Point

"Aria, I won't leave without saying goodbye to you, face to face, so just relax and go to school" Damon said into the phone.

"I swear to god Salvatore if you leave without saying goodbye, I'll hunt you down and stake you myself, am I clear?" Aria warned.

"Crystal" Damon smirked, "Now hang up and go find your bestie, I'm sure she's going to want to know where you were all night".

"Ugh don't remind me, I still don't get why I couldn't just skip school and stay with you" Aria complained, really not in the mood to answer all of Elena's questions.

"Because than Elena and Stefan will think I've kidnapped you" Damon retorted.

Aria scoffed, "As if you care what they think".

"You're right, I don't" Damon confirmed, "But you care what they think, and you wouldn't want them to get the wrong impression now would you?".

Aria sighed, "Yeah, yeah".

"Now go to class Aria, and stay assured I won't leave without saying goodbye" Damon assured.

"Promise?" a still skeptical Aria asked.

"I promise Aria" Damon promised.

"Okay than, bye Damon, see you soon?" Aria asked, trying to confirm that Damon was going to keep his promise.

"Bye Aria, see you soon" Damon assured.

After Aria hanged up the phone, Damon went towards the window in his living, a small smile forming on his face, last night Aria had spent the whole night with Damon in the woods, they talked about everything and anything, Aria helped take Damon's mind off of his failure, she made it her mission to make Damon smile, and she didn't give up till she succeeded. 

This morning Aria was reluctant to leave Damon, she was scared he was going to leave without saying goodbye, after much promising from Damon, Aria finally left for school but not before threatening Damon to stake him if he didn't say goodbye before leaving.

Just thinking about Aria made a smile form on Damon's face, "You know, for someone who just failed in his mission to free his one true love, you sure seem happy" Stefan said, entering the living room and seeing the smile on his older brother's face.

Damon rolled his eyes, the smile from his face immediately going away the moment he heard his younger brother, "What can I say, I had great company last night, she managed to take my mind off of things".

"That reminds me, where is she?" a concerned Stefan asked, "You didn't hurt her, right?".

Stefan knew Damon will never hurt Aria, after all they were connected, but Stefan didn't want Damon to know he knew everything, about Aria and him being connected, about his and Natalie's love, and especially about his hatred for Katherine, Stefan wanted Damon to tell all that to him himself.

Damon scoffed, "I would never hurt her Stefan".

"I'm just asking, you're known to do reckless things when your angry" Stefan justified.
