English was okay, we were reading The Great Gatsby. Next, I had math, lunch, chemistry, and then PE.

I quickly walked to my locker to switch my textbooks, but the moment I closed it, there was an evil glare looking at me. My body shivered in disgust as he looked me up and down, appreciatively.

"Well hello, beautiful. I'm David." His voice left me feeling gross, and I wanted nothing to do with him.

"Hi, can I help you?" I tried being as friendly as possible.

"You sure can. I have a party coming up this Friday, and I want you to be there."

"Oh, I'm not sure."

He started rubbing his hand up and down my arm as he got closer to me.

"I'll bring you as my date. It'll be fun."

"It's time for you to take a step back and remove your hands from my girl."

I knew that voice all too well.

"Or what?"

"You don't want to know."

"I think this little lady can make decisions for herself, can't she."

I cleared my throat. "Yeah, I'm sorry David, but if I were to go, I would probably go with Xavier."

David looked enraged while Xavier looked smug and snaked his arm around my shoulders.

"Nice to meet you, David." I spoke softly as Xavier and I started walking to math.

We were halfway down the hall when Xavier finally spoke.

"Hey, you should stay away from him."

"Don't worry, I plan to."

"Good."

"Thanks, X. I really didn't want to have to take care of him myself." I sighed.

"Of course, Apple. That's what I'm here for." He smiled and we walked into math.

"Hello. You must be Ms. Anna." The teacher spoke.

"Please choose a seat. The person you sit next to is your partner for the year, so choose wisely." She said, motioning to the desk.

I looked over to where Xavier had gone to sit, and there was an empty chair next to him. He was watching me the whole-time smirking. It was the only empty seat in the class. I slowly walked over and sat next to him. He threw his arms around my shoulder, pulling my chair closer.

"What did you do?" I asked.

"I don't know what you mean." His smirk widening.

"There is no way you were sitting by yourself. Aren't you on the football team? Don't people usually go crazy over that?"

"Oh, them? Their off over there somewhere." He waved his hand towards the opposite side of the class. Sure enough, there was a group of people watching enviously. Amongst them was Fiona.

"Xavier, I don't want any extra attention. I also don't want any problems with Fiona." I whispered, feeling the glare of many girls and guys on my head.

"Don't worry about them. It'll go away soon." He leaned back in his chair.

**************

It was finally lunch time. I walked with Xavier to the cafeteria, meeting up with the rest of the group.

"Hey guys!"

"Hey Missy!" I responded, sitting down across the table from her. Xavier sat next to me, with Jacob on the other side.

"You going to David's party on Friday?"

An involuntary shiver of disgust ran through my body.

"I don't know. I don't really like him. He gives me the creeps." I responded.

"He gives everyone the creeps, but he throws the best parties." Ash spoke.

He was sitting by Missy, but she didn't seem thrilled about it. I guess nothing had changed since this morning.

"Rumor has it he's in a gang." Xavier spoke.

My eyes went wide.

"Really? What's the name of it?" I asked, trying not to be too obvious about it.

"I think it's the LA Devils or something." Missy chattered away, going on about the gang, but my world seemed to stop. The Devils. They were the ones who killed my mom with a spare bullet.

"The Devils?" I whispered.

"Yeah, why?" Missy looked thoroughly confused.

"Oh, nothing. There was a Devils gang down in Miami." I responded, looking back up from my lap.

"Might be the same group. Apparently, they're global." Missy shrugged.

Fuck.

The Devils had been lifelong enemies of my gang, Hell Riders. There was a gang war about 20 years ago, before I was born, but I was always told about the lives lost and all the bloodshed.

"I have to go." I stood up quickly, grabbing my bag.

"Are you okay?" Xavier caught my wrist.

"I'm fine. I'll see you guys later." I spoke, pulling my wrist and running out the doors towards the football field.

As soon as I was far away near a tree, I checked to make sure that I was alone.

Someone had to know about this.

I couldn't call my family in Miami because I didn't want them worrying about me, and that only left one person.

I pulled out my phone and called the one person I could.

My dad.
