The dinner party was a blast. Almost everyone came, outrageous and funny awards were given, heartfelt speeches were made and laughter ensued in every table as they reminisced the filming days. Throughout all these Sung Kyung kept glancing at the disheveled Canadian boy who was sitting a few tables away from her. He smiled at her whenever their eyes met but there seemed to be an unspoken understanding between them that they stayed apart from each other to avoid another round of gossip. She was still baffled by the fact that she couldn't seem to stop her eyes from seeking him and yet their kissing scene didn't seem to have that much effect on her. Did the alcohol clouded her feelings? She felt some sort of relief that they had little interaction in the party. Later that evening she saw him standing up and was saying goodbye but she had then lost sight of him as Joo Yeon engaged her in a conversation. Just then she sensed someone standing behind her and then there was a light tap on her shoulder. She didn't have to turn to know it was him as her body could instinctively recognize the feel of him.
"Good night noona." He whispered.
The warmth of his breath against her ear was spreading all throughout her body that the only thing leaving her mouth was some sort of unintelligible sound.
"Hm-Hmm." she was sure she nodded too. Then he was gone.
She was dumbfounded. Here she thought she was unaffected by him.
Then what the hell was that?
The next night as they gathered in her house to watch the final episode she couldn't focus as she was more confused than ever as how could that whisper affect her so much when a full make out session with the guy couldn't. Maybe it was the cameras around them? All the questions that had been running in her mind was leaving her perturbed that when their crossing the line scene finally came on screen while everybody else was cheering and giggling loudly she was on the other hand technically analyzing it.
Sure it was beautifully done and yes, she remembered the kiss was pleasant but there just wasn't a movie-inducing-feeling-where-the-guy-gets-the-girl-leg-popping-kiss moment. It may sound embarrassing and cliche but Sung Kyung was that girl who was hoping the romantic movies she loved and all its typical banalities would somehow spill over her life.
She then had the feeling that someone was watching her and indeed there was. Hyo Seop was looking at her with a bewildered face probably wondering what was going on with her when everyone else was having fun. She immediately schooled her face and joined the laughter but as she glanced sideways at Hyo Seop she knew she didn't fool him.
Finally it's time to say goodbye. There were lots of hugs, still a few tears, wishes of good luck and promises of keeping in touch. Sung Kyung wiped the tears in her face as he closed the door. She knew she would genuinely miss all of them as she she had formed a close bond with the group.
Especially the last one who still haven't left as she knew Hyo Seop was standing behind her with how her body reacted to him.
She knew why he was still here and she really didn't want to answer him as she had no idea how. She turned to face him and despite her tall height she felt small with his towering frame.
"It was a great night wasn't it? I'm so happy that almost everyone was here." She started trying to fake enthusiasm to deflect him from questioning her.
Too bad it didn't work.
"Do you know that lying makes your pupils dilate?" He asked while bending down to her eye level. She took a few steps back until she was pressed against the door creating a bit of distance between them.
"What are you talking about? Really you need to say some random trivia at this time?" She tried harder.
Hyo Seop stood up straight again crossed his arms on his chest and looked at her with one eyebrow raised noticing the space between them.
"Stop deflecting I know something is bothering you." He demanded but then his face softened when he asked, "what's wrong noona?"
She wanted to say nothing but she knew she wanted clarity about the questions causing her distress it was like an itch that needed to be scratched but she was having trouble how to ask him about it.
She avoided looking into his eyes as she fidgeted by the door while crossing and uncrossing her legs as she kept on trying to come up with the question to ask that wouldn't make her sound like crazy.
Hyo Seop was looking at her now with furrowed eyebrows probably thinking that indeed she was crazy then suddenly his voice rang out.
"Yah! Lee Sung Kyung what's going on?!"
"I didn't feel anything special about the kiss and I don't think that's normal." She blurted out as she was quite taken aback with his raised voice.
Guess the cat's out of the bag.
