She opened her car door window to a surprise Hyo Seop. "What are you doing here noona?"
"Well, uh, I made some extra food today and I thought why not share it right? So yes I decided I brought some for you too." Oh god. Did her voice just sounded high pitched?
She cleared her throat. "It's in the backseat wait let me get it for you." She added while quickly scrambling out of the car before she can say anything dumb.
As she opened her car's passenger door Hyo Seop was looking at her with a raised eyebrow.
"What is it?" She asked."You look like you're drowning in your clothes." He pointed out.
Well maybe she did. She was wearing an oversized shirt, a loose lounge pants and topped with a long brown coat. It may not look stylish but it was inconspicuous and that was what she was aiming for.
"It's comfortable" she claimed. Hyo Seop just shook his head at her. She then took the bags of food from her backseat that she had prepared for him all the while feeling deflated. She had anticipated knocking on his door hoping for the possibility of being invited in and getting the chance to talk to him. Accidentally meeting him on the parking lot seemed like it was the end of their interaction. She turned reluctantly handing the bags of food to him yet Hyo Seop didn't move and just looked at her incredulously. Puzzled she then looked at him over and noticed he was quite put together and as she lowered her gaze on both his hands were heavy bags of groceries.
"Oh!" She exclaimed. "You went grocery shopping." Right, way to state the obvious.
"Yep, I need to restock Baul's favorite snacks or I won't hear the end of her whining. I may or may not have ended buying a little bit too much for myself too." He said and she could only guess he was smiling behind his mask.
"Do you want me to bring this up with you?" She asked holding up the bag of food she brought hoping against all hope he'd say yes.
"Do you mind?" He answered.
"Not at all." She answered back nonchalantly when in truth she wanted to hug those grocery bags right that moment.
They walked together towards his building in silence. She wanted to start a conversation but she had too much things on her mind that she was still figuring out how to say them. Would she sound like a stalker if she asked about the Instagram picture? Would she sound like a nagging girlfriend if she started asking him where he's been? What's keeping him busy or why was he MIA? Before she knew it they were inside his building and was now waiting for the lift.
"Hey Paul."
That was definitely a female's voice. She turned her head so quickly that it quite hurt her neck just to see who it was. The woman standing next to Hyo Seop looked like in her late 20's, petite with long dark hair. She couldn't gauge if she was pretty or not since her face was covered with a mask too but she wasn't Korean that she was sure of. She had deep set round brown eyes with beautiful long lashes and topping it up with a curvy figure which means she was blessed with a cup C and a shapely behind. Damn, her self esteem was taking a nose dive with this woman.
"Hey Amanda." Did he just sounded friendly? Was he close with her? Who the hell is she?
"Thank you about the other day. You were truly a life saver!" The unknown woman gushed.
The other day? What did she mean? Was this what's keeping him busy? She could feel her heart dropping to her stomach.
"Hey it's not a problem. You can call me anytime you need me." Wow was he a 24 hours emergency hotline now when he couldn't even give her a simple text?
"I hope you enjoyed that dinner last night. It was a last minute preparation. I promise to make it up next time." She told him.
"You don't have to Amanda and your cooking are always wonderful."
She knew heartbreak she's well versed at it. But how should she describe this one? She could feel the crippling pain rising in her chest, she could feel herself falling apart at the seams. She wanted to cry but she was holding it in. She wanted to run but she couldn't. Her legs were numb.
She was certain there was "something" there with her and Hyo Seop wasn't it? Then what the hell was happening?
