Chapter 4- Instead of a wedding night....

Rose laughed loudly as Dennis narrated one of the incidences that he had shared with his brother. He smiled at her, noting how easily amused she could be despite the harsh frontier that she had.

He could see that even though many people were staring at her unusual attire and wondering what she as doing with him, she didn't mind it at all. Probably she was used to not caring about what others thought of her.

"I love you brother. I want to marry him," Rose said at last after she caught her breath. Dennis chuckled softly and said, "He is still a bachelor but I don't want my brother to steal my son's wife. That is just too disgusting."

Rose continued laughing and hooked her arm in his. She had quickly become comfortable with him, just like how she had with Daegon.

She could easily understand that Daegon was exactly like his father. Her husband, she supposed, must be like his mother.

"How come all the Spencer men are charming and nice except for the demon who I had the misfortune to marry?" Rose asked.

Dennis laughed smoothly and said, "Daemon is just a bit too moody, like a combination of his mother and his uncle. And to be honest, those two used to have legendary tempers. I still remember their fights."

Dennis smiled and then looked away while Rose remained silent. In the hour that she had spent with him, she figured out that he always brought up the past even if he didn't want to. It was just all that he thought about. He thought about what had happened and what could have happened. It was like he didn't like living in the present.

Their peaceful silence was broken by Dennis' phone ringing.

"Yes, Daemon?" Dennis asked. Rose watched as his expression turned from confusion to disappointment and then to resignation.

She felt her stomach drop.

"Daemon, are you mentally okay? You can't be considering doing that today?" Dennis asked exasperatedly.

"Whatever, you itself tell this to her," Dennis said at last and passed the mobile to Rose. She looked at him questioningly and took the mobile.

Dennis looked expectantly at her.

"What do you want?" Rose asked her new husband.

"You have to pack, we are leaving," Daemon said in a monotone voice.

"Sorry?" she asked incredulously, "what did you just say?"

"I have a case and we have a flight to catch in two hours. Get ready," he said in one breath.

"Go find someone else to order around," Rose said and cut the phone before he could respond. She handed the phone back to her amused father in law.

"You would probably be the first person to cut him out like that," Dennis mused.

"Well, he can't exactly expect all of us to just bend down at his feet and follow his orders," Rose said.

Seeing Dennis expression, she gasped and said incredulously, "He actually expects that?"

Dennis just shrugged and walked forward to his car. Soon he was driving as she stared out of the window.

"Why does he suddenly want us to go?" she asked at last. The question had been eating her.
