Chapter 16- Complications
"So when are you getting out of the house?" Rose asked as she sipped her coffee. She looked at the man sitting opposite her who was smirking.
"Eager to kick me out?"
"Your company doesn't really please me," she replied.
"Too harsh..." Derek said with his palm on his chest.
She was distracted from him as the phone rang. She walked to the phone and raised her eyebrows when she saw the caller id.
"So he calls?" she asked jokingly as she took the phone.
"WHERE ARE YOU?"
Rose raised her eyebrows and Derek looked questioningly.
"Well, since you called the house phone, doesn't that give you a clue?" she asked sarcastically.
She heard him sigh.
"Don't get out of the house, ok?"he said.
"Are you ordering me now?" she asked with a frown.
"Rosalyn, please listen to me. Just stay at home, okay? I will be there as fast as I can reach."
"Whatever," she said rolling her eyes. Only he could go from calling her a whore to acting like he cared for her.
"And before you cut the line, we have a visitor," she said rolling her eyes again when Derek smirked at her.
"VISITOR! KICK HIM OUT!" he yelled. She raised her eyebrows at Derek who had obviously heard what his nephew said.
She ignored the bad feeling in her chest as she knew that something bad had happened.
"Sorry, get out," Rose said to Derek. Derek stood up and took the phone from her.
"Thanks for the grand welcome," Derek said dryly.
"Uncle? What are you doing there?" Daemon asked bewildered, "wait, if you are there, can you ensure that both of you stay at home?"
"Why? What is the problem now?" Derek asked with a smirk, "new killer on loose?"
Saying that seemed to make him even more amused as he started chuckling.
"Just listen to me, ok? Just don't go out. I'll see you in a few hours, uncle."
Rose stayed silent as Derek cut the line.
"He never does that with me," she said subdued.
"Does what?"
"He never tells me goodbye or anything. He just cuts the phone, that is if he bothers calling," she continued looking down.
Derek studied her for a while and then snorted.
"Maybe it is your this behavior that is making him like that. To be honest, you sound too clingy right now," he said.
"I am not clingy," she huffed.
"Yeah, sure."
Derek went back to the refrigerator unbothered and opened a can of beer.
