"We're approaching the Patrulian Zone," said Coran as the Castle glided through space.
Allura was in possession of a rock that she had received from Lotor. It was apparently the key to locating a realm known as Oriande, which is supposedly the birthplace of Altean alchemy. Coran had advised against searching for Oriande as ships who ventured too close were never heard from again. Lotor was insistent. He believed that the first step in returning peace to the Galra was to give them access to unlimited quintessence. They had located Oriande in the Patrulian Zone and were now coming up on it.
Nova looked up ahead and saw many large objects floating up ahead as the Castle slowly approached. "What is all of that?" she asked.
"Is it an asteroid belt?" Shiro added.
"No, it's a graveyard," Coran responded solemnly. As they passed the debris, everyone could see the remnants of many, many ships that had been broken and destroyed.
"It looks like they all lost power," Hunk observed. "I wonder how."
"That's the mystery," the helmsman replied, "No one knows."
Pidge was monitoring her computer screen. "We're about to find out. Look." Ahead of them, a massive, glowing body of energy lay before them. It shone with an almost blinding white light.
"Is that some sort of massive star?" Lance asked.
Nova went over to the Green Paladin's chair and leaned over her shoulder to look at her screen. "It looks like a black hole," Nova stated, "But it's different..."
"It's a white hole!" Pidge said, surprised.
"What's the difference?" Lance asked.
"A black hole sucks everything in because of its massive gravity," Nova answered, then she looked at Pidge to continue.
"I white hole is opposite. It's able to shoot massive amounts of energy out from an unknown source."
"Right now this whole area is being blasted with crazy high radiation," Hunk stated.
"That would make sense as to why those ships' systems would've fried," Shiro stated.
"So what do we do now?" Nova asked.
"The wise stand back from the fire, fools are burned at the pyre," Lotor started to say, "The mystic becomes one with the flame, the embers and he are the same. A poem by an ancient Altean alchemist. It describes the route to Oriande. We must go into the white hole."
"How are you supposed to go through a white hole?" Pidge asked, concerned.
"I agree with Pidge," Nova said. "Any closer, and we will just be another ship in the graveyard."
"We'll wormhole inside," Allura said.
Everyone turned to the Princess, making sure they heard correctly.
"Allura, I don't think that's a good idea," Nova said.
The princess nodded. "Other ships can't withstand the same forces as Voltron."
Shiro stood up, "You're sure about this?"
Allura wore a determined expression. "Voltron can make it through."
"But what if it's another nuclear explosion in space?" Lance asked. "We can't survive that."
Coran stepped up, a very worried expression on his face. "This quest has been taken too far, Princess."
"If I didn't believe in this, I wouldn't ask any of you to do this," Allura said. "But I just know I belong here."
Shiro looked at Nova. "Is there any way you could put a protective field around as we go in?"
