Alaric: Who is in my mind?

Aliana: Are you in the dungeons?

Silence.

Alaric: Who is this?

I thought for a moment. I didn't trust this man with my name or identity. Not yet. If anyone found out I was speaking to him I could be killed.

Aliana: I am a pet living in the castle.

Alaric: A pet? Is that your disguise?

Aliana: What?!? No. I'm a pet. I just got here a few weeks ago.

Alaric: But...you're a Hunter. You have to be or we wouldn't be able to communicate this way.

Aliana: A Hunter? No. I'm human.

Alaric: What color are your eyes?

A Hunter? Why would he think I'm a Hunter?

Aliana: What?

Alaric: What color are your eyes, boy! Don't toy with me.

Boy?

Aliana: Green. Like my father.

Alaric: There. See. You are a Hunter. Like your father.

What?

Aliana: Many humans have green eyes. It doesn't mean anything. And my father is human, like me.

Alaric: (Sighing in frustration) No human could have both green eyes and link to another Hunter through their minds to have this discussion. That is a gift only Hunters have. Your father was probably trying to protect you, but trust me when I say this. You are a Hunter and so is your father. Is he alive?

Aliana: My father? Yes. He's alive.

Alaric: Great. What's his name?

Aliana: I'm not ready to share that yet.

Alaric: (Another sigh of frustration): Fine. So what is your plan boy?

That can't be right. My father is human. Like me. We aren't Hunters. As far as I know those who weren't killed in battle were captured and then killed. There is no way my father could be a Hunter.

Aliana: Plan? I...I have to go.

Alaric: What?!? I've been waiting for another Hunter for more than two hundred years. You can't just leave me trapped here. I need to know how we are getting out of here.
