It has been a week since Duo Fata was explained to me. Since then, I've settled into a new reality. A reality where I am mated to both Master Alexander and Master Philip. The renovations to Master Alexander's apartment are near completion and we anticipate returning there tomorrow. Master Alexander and Sawyer are currently at the apartment doing a walk through.

As has become customary when Master Philip and I are alone, I was sitting on his lap while he stroked my hair and read from a book of poetry. Master Alexander had shared with Master Philip that I love poetry. In an attempt to bring us closer, he has taken to reading to me. However, poetry is obviously not his strong suit. He simply is unable to understand what the poems mean or how they are inspired.

When he first read me one of Shakespeare's sonnets he asked, "What does it mean?" I thought he was being rhetorical, like when Master Alexander would ask what the poem means to me and then we would spend hours in discourse about what emotions the poet was trying to elicit, choice of words, any double entendres, etc. However, I soon realized that he genuinely wanted to know what these poems meant.  As he finished,

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep."

He kissed the top of my head and asked, "What does it mean?" I had to suppress a smile as I bit my lip. I have always suspected that Master Alexander is unique in his knowledge and acceptance of human arts and literature. I just never realized how unique he was.

Spending time with Master Philip, has been a reminder that Vampires have been designed to mimic humans in order to get close enough to feed. Yet, a Vampire is about as able to understand a human as the praying mantis is able to understand the insects it eats. The praying mantis need only isolate itself in the grass and wait for its prey just as Vampires need only wait in a crowd of humans.

I turned my head, pressing my cheek into his cold chest. "Sometimes I wonder," I said thoughtfully, "when a wolf is hunting its prey, before it sets its eyes on a tasty rabbit, does it look down the countryside and admire the beauty of the landscape that is its territory? Is it able to appreciate the colors, the sounds, the peacefulness? Does it bring back memories?"

He seemed to consider my words. "Probably not. It will observe, perhaps, but it is doubtful that it would admire.   It would serve no purpose." I nodded thoughtfully. I smiled, "I suppose not, but I guess I would like to believe that sometimes when I see a wolf standing on the precipice of a cliff seemingly deep in thought, it truly is because it is simply taking in the beauty around him." He laughed. "Perhaps."

I pointed to the book in his hand, "The poem is about a man traveling along a road. He stops to admire the snow falling on the ground between the woods and a lake. He contemplates the beauty of the sight before him and considers staying to watch the snow fall, but recognizes he has a long way yet to travel before he can finally rest."

He nodded thoughtfully before saying, "Is that it?" I laughed. "No. There can be a deeper meaning." He smiled, "I knew it." He suddenly tilted his head. "Alex and Sawyer are coming." He lifted me off his lap and onto the floor next to him as he stood.

Master Alexander walked in with Sawyer close behind him. He walked over to me immediately. "Aliana." He kissed me lightly on the lips, before taking my hand in his. "I've missed you." You saw me only a few hours ago, I thought to myself, but I let him take me to the bedroom we've been sharing. "Well. Hello to you too!" Master Philip called from behind us but Master Alexander ignored him.

He led me into the bedroom, slammed the door and took me into his arms. "I've missed you." he whispered again. I gave an internal sigh, "I've missed you too Master." I said obligingly. He pulled in a kiss and then led me to the bed.  I felt my stomach sink at the thought of having to sleep with him. Thankfully, he made no move to undress me or himself. Instead he asked to feed.
