I stared at the ceiling for who knows how long.
It felt like I was staring at the ceiling for days, although it was only a couple hours.
I felt my shirt being gripped. I looked down at Grian. He seemed to be having a nightmare. All of a sudden he bolted up and was looking around frantically.
“Grian! It’s okay!”
“M-mumbo?”
“Yes, Gri? Im here-”
“Mumby?”
“Yes?”
“Do you hate me?
“Why would I hate you-”
“If I loved someone would you hate me.”

“No. No, I wouldn’t hate you for loving someone.
…
Why?”
“I just feel like everyone would hate me…”

“Alright come here.”
I pulled Grian into a hug. I was still questioning why he would ask me if I would hate him. I mean why would I hate him. He was adorable with his cute smile and beautiful sky blue eyes… Why would anybody hate him?
“Mumbo?”
“...yeah?”
“Just making sure you weren’t asleep.”
“Why would you think I was asleep?”
“You just seemed to be really quiet… and you seem really tired…”

“What time even is it?
“Let me see… It’s 5:53 in the morning.”
“Why were you up this early?”

“Don’t tell me you didn’t sleep!”
“Uhhhh well, I slept a tiiiiny bit-”
“Mumbo why didn’t you sleep! I know you can stay awake for several nights but it’s not healthy for you!”

I didn’t want t-to hurt y-you…”
“What do you mean to hurt me? Why would you hurt me while you would be sleeping?”
I hesitantly extended my fangs. I didn’t go to sleep cause I was afraid I would lose control of my body and hurt him. I didn’t want to hurt him…
I didn’t want to kill him.
“Mumbo?”
“Mumbo!”
“MUMBO!?!”
“O-oh um what is it Gri?”
“You just spaced out for a bit… anyways what even are you?”
“Im a vampire. I thought you were awake while we were talking?”
“I was sorta awake I didn’t know what anyone was saying but I was pretty tired-”
“WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING UP AT THIS HOUR?!?”
I jumped back.
”WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP AT THIS HOUR ISKALL?!?”
”I MEAN, I was going to go on a grind trip for a bit but I wasn't expecting you two to be up. And what are you two even doing up?”
”Grian had a nightmare…”
”I’m fine now Iskall I was just startled by it…”
”Well, I'm going to go on that grind trip now! I need some more sand.”
”Alright well, bye!”
”Bye!”
Iskall flew off, leaving us to ourselves.
”Sooo… Are we going to go back to our bases or…”
”Im fine going back.”
“Alright… Well bye!”
“Bye!”
We flew off to our bases. The whole way there it felt like someone was watching me. I finally landed and went to my super smelter.
“Huh…”
Apparently, Iskall had come by and restocked my supply. I went back up and looked around. I still had the feeling of someone watching me. I flew around some trying to see if there was anyone here. I found nothing. I came back down and still had the feeling of paranoia. I decided it was best to just sleep, thinking that it might be because im sleepy. I lay in bed slowly drifting off to sleep.
