The weekend passed quickly for Zhan. He had once again spent Saturday to Sunday at the home of his four-year older cousin Jiang Cheng to look after his twin sons, who are now 12 years old. Soon they would no longer need a babysitter, and Zhan took advantage of the time until then.

He watched them grow up and spent so much time with them that they became very dear to him. He always remembers the twins screaming when Jiang Cheng and his wife wanted another babysitter to look after them. They always cried and screamed that they wanted ZhanZhan and so Zhan often had to go to his cousin's house late in the evening to watch over the boys.

Jiang Cheng is one reason why Zhan often argued with his parents and hated it when they compared him and his cousin. Because Jiang Cheng, in her opinion, did it right.

Already at school he found his great love and married her when they were just starting their studies. In the middle of their studies, both were only 20 years old, they became parents. Both had no job and no own apartment and were still studying, but suddenly they were responsible for their twin sons. Thanks to the families of both of them and also Zhan, they were able to continue studying and had nothing to worry about.

Jiang Cheng became a dentist, opened a small practice after his studies with the financial support of his parents, and thanks to the good location, he was soon unable to accept any more patients. A year ago, he had the practice expanded and even hired another dentist. With his now 32 years, Jiang Cheng came far.

But not only Jiang Cheng made it, his wife did too. After her studies she took over the management of one of the hippest restaurants in Beijing. Guests sometimes have to wait up to eight months for a reservation. The restaurant is a very experimental restaurant. They do not simply cook there. They cook with nitrogen, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday they cook with things that look like they came from a chemistry set.

Zhan himself wanted to try it once, but did not want to wait 8 months and it was far too expensive for him.

Anyway, while Jiang Cheng and his wife, despite their children, achieved everything they wanted and really made something out of themselves, Zhan's parents were disappointed in him because he couldn't even manage to marry his ex-girlfriend. For them, his choice of career was also always a big point of criticism. Too little salary, too unpopular to show off in front of neighbors and friends and, in their opinion, far too unimportant.

As the only child in the family, Zhan had always had a hard time trying to please his parents. They preferred to pay attention to what other people's children were doing and achieving, rather than simply being happy that Zhan was making progress at all. After all, he is a well-known graphic designer in this field.

However, Zhan doesn't mind if his parents once again compare him to Jiang Cheng or someone else. The only thing that really bothers him is that they just don't want to understand that his ex never wanted to get married and it was her who left him because she had someone else and then said she was never sure if Zhan was the right one.

However, on weekends with the twins, Zhan didn't waste time getting angry at his parents, but concentrated on the twins. The two boys told him that they were fans of Wang Yibo and even had tickets for his concert. Zhan had to smile and said: "I also have a ticket and a backstage pass." He also showed them the headband he got as a present from Wang Yibo.

The twins soon freaked out when Zhan also told them that he had met Wang Yibo personally and even had lunch with him. "I guess you like Wang Yibo." Said Ling, one of the twins

"He is very nice." Zhan replied.

"Ha ha, you're in love with Wang Yibo." Cheered A-Yuan, the other twin.

"What? No, definitely not. I'm not in love with him!" Said Zhan, wondering about their imaginations.

"But you talk as if you're in love with him." Said Ling.

"Absolutely not. Your ZhanZhan likes women, not men." Said Zhan on it.

"Yes, yes, if you say so." A-yuan replied laughing. Zhan chased the two naughty boys around the house and tickled them when he caught them.

When Jiang Cheng returned home with his wife on Sunday, Zhan sat with his cousin for a moment and they talked. Jiang Cheng told Zhan that his wife is pregnant again and again with twins. Apparently his wife secretly stopped taking the pill because she wanted to have another child. And now she is pregnant again and Jiang Cheng is anything but enthusiastic. Nevertheless, he tried to give Zhan tips.

"Get in touch with your parents more often. Try to find a better paid job. Finally find a wife, get married and have children. Your parents are going crazy about your lifestyle. You should grow up and act like one." He said to Zhan.

"Oh, yeah, right. Because that's what my parents want me to do, I should marry a woman I don't love, have kids I won't have time for, and get a job that pays better than the one I have now. No thanks, because I would have to spend the rest of my life having to deal with marrying a woman I don't love. And I don't want to live like you. Sure for you it might be a dream come true. But I think it is a pity that you never really had time for your sons, always needed someone to take care of them and now that you could have time for them, you get the next two. And I bet you will need help from the family again. When I want to have a family, it is only when I know that my wife and I can take care of the child ourselves. That we can give the child the attention and love it needs and deserves. Your sons have always come too short with you. I find this really sad."

"Zhan, this is not about me."

"It's not? How many times have you drunk called me and told me you regretted marrying so young? How many times did you cry because you are not the father to your sons that you always wanted to be? And how many times did you doubt whether you really married the right one? You always say that she is your great love, but you were never sure! And even though you are so full of doubts, you want me to do it the same way you did?"

"I didn't mean it like that, Zhan. I know my life isn't perfect, and yes, I have many regrets. But when will you start thinking about your future?"

"A-Cheng, I have been thinking about my life, and until half a year ago I was sure that it is exactly the way I always wanted it to be. But things changed and now, all by myself, I have to figure out how to go on. And that without being put under pressure from all sides."

"Nobody wants to pressure you or force you to do anything you don't want to do, Zhan. But we all feel the need to remind you again and again to think about your future. You are 28 years old now, soon to be 29, when will you start thinking about it?"

Zhan had this conversation with his cousin many times in the last six months and it ended the same way it always does, Zhan got angry and went home.

When he was on the bus on his way home, he tried to reach his friends again. He asked them how they were doing and what they had been up to lately and hoped he would finally get some answers. But when there was still no answer by the evening, even though they had read all his messages, he wrote to them in a fit of rage: "Okay, I get it now. You don't want to have anything more to do with me? All right, you shall have! I will never bother you again. You go on living your life and pretending that you don't know me. Goodbye forever!!!"

Then he turned off his cell phone and went to bed. Angrily he scolded himself that he had always been there for his friends, without any ifs and buts. Day and night he was available for them and helped them wherever he could. But now that he was in a bad way, they were annoyed by him and broke off contact with him. This showed clearly how much the friendships are worth.
