Look im not in any place to say how trans people should interact with media and hc's but i just saw a post saying that dan 'could have worded his response better' to a question about doof being trans and should have said 'but its ok to hc him that way!!!'

Like. I get why you'd be personally upset and you have a right to that if ur invested in it but frankly responding to 'did you deliberately write this character as trans?' with 'no' is the least rude and problematic thing i could think of. Like its a one word response. There is quite literally nothing to unpack here. I get where 'im a upset' comes from but to place any sort of responsibility on dan povenmire to tell you your headcanon is valid either way is ridiculous. Honestly in a world of 'dumbledoor is gay' and 'frozen belongs to the fans :)' dans honestly that that was not something they deliberately put into their work was refreshing. I'd like trans characters in shows but this aint a step forward or backwards in that regard. Its the most neutral answer to this question he possibly could have given
Like dan povenmire isnt rebecca sugar he's not a hip young creator on the scene super into fandom culture from what im aware and i highly doubt he's thinking of headcanons or fanons at all. The guy has a sense of humour yeah but at least from what i've seen of him and other people who worked on it the creators do view phineas and ferb as an actual. Like. Professional show. Probably didnt even come into this guys mind that there were adults on tumblr invested in this idea, he was just answering a question about his intent with a project
I dont want to sound like im being a cunt to trans people. If it was personally disappointing to you or whatever you have a right to that feeling but objectively speaking there wasnt any wrong committed here and i think publicly talking about it like there was is disingenuous
