Waking up my vision was quite blurry, but from what I could make out I was no longer in my room. The plain grey walls said it all, also it was rather tight space with neither a window or a door.

Standing abruptly I rushed around feeling for any way out, but all I was met with was four solid walls. Sighing I stepped back trying to remember what happened.

Right, I was talking with Lin, Karen and Sarah. They were wishing me good luck and then.... My hand quickly went to my throat sighing a bit of relief feeing the small pendent.

Then my hand trailed to the back of my neck, feeling a rather small lump and I knew I was drugged. So that's why Sarah was frantically apologizing, blinking a couple times I decided to take in my surroundings.

Looking around I found the bed I was sleeping on, plain grey walls and a single basket? Walking over I cautiously pick it up, surprised to find there was some heft to it.

Placing it on the bed I began to empty the contents, inside was a sandwich, eight bottles of water and a single piece of paper. Deciding to start with the paper I wasn't expecting to see Koji's handwriting.

Lady Regina,
At least I am allowed to be myself around you. After our talk I decided to do some research on your sword, it would seem it has the ability to turn into a gun. Please use this to survive, also I suggest you should eat something. I hope you come back not only as a potential wife, but as a friend.
Sincerely, Koji.

Pulling the sword from my hip I examined it. I knew a lot of about the Fencer sword, but not that it could turn into a gun. Well that function will be extremely useful.

Placing the note on the bed I picked up the sandwich, I should eat something. Before placing it into my mouth I paused, knowing the King's true nature I couldn't be to sure he wouldn't poison the food.

Placing it back down I folded back the top slice of bread, and sure enough I was met with a rather pungent purple color. With that color I am positive that is isn't jam, giving it a sniff I scrunched my nose.

It had no odor, meaning it was poison. I may be immune to certain types, but I wasn't taking a chance with this one.  Then the eight water bottles came into view, now why would they give us so many?

Then it clicked, this purple goop must cause the person to go through their entire supply of water within seconds. So that's what Karen meant with pure insanity.

Suddenly a voice rang within the box, "Hello Selected, the first test will commence very soon, but first a couple things." My eyebrows furrowed together, that wasn't the King's voice. It was too feminine.

"Your goal for this test isn't to be the last one standing, its to make it to the mountain. At the top will be your destination and your spot for the next test and your life will be secure." gritting my teeth I nodded.

So my only goal was to get to the top, ok how hard could that be? "Oh and be warned my dear Selected, there'll be many things out there that will try to stop you. One way or another."

Within seconds the walls around me fell reveling a barren waste land. Nothing, but rocks and sand for miles, quickly grabbing the water and bed sheet I stuffed it into the basket and began to run.

If I stayed out in the open for much longer I would be a sitting duck, my first goal was to find shelter. The first couple steps I heard a faint beep. Knowing the sound way too well I jumped as far away as I could.

Landing flat on my stomach I gasped for air, looking back all I saw a deep hole where I once stood. The only word that went through my mind was land mine.

Scrambling into a near by cave I peaked out only to see mines go off and something clearly attacking the other selected. Closing my eyes I leaned against the wall, This was way worse then I ever imaged.

Peaking out once more I saw the smoke of the cannon fire, then it went off again and again. Counting I ended with the number 15, but watching another girl fall I was met with the same cannon fire.

This was day one of the first test and 16 selected had already lost their lives. 84 are still breathing, but how long will that last?
