Chapter 1: Dominic

The first time the powers appeared to Dominic, was the worst day of his life. The black waves of absolute power radiated from his hands, and for a twelve year old it was quite nerve racking. Yet Dom was curious, for he could feel the power exploding through his fingertips. He decided maybe he would just touch an object, any object that might calm down the black aura streaming from his hands in waves. This decision was the worst, for his mind had decided the oak tree was the best place to test his powers. Once his finger tips had brushed the tree, the black aura transferred into the tree and within seconds horror struck Dominic. He watched as the huge tree, and the treehouse that it held, dissolved into ash. Ash that blew away with the wind. Dominic had dropped to his knees, tears streaming from his rosy cheeks.
That treehouse, the one he and his grandfather had built together. Together before he had passed away. It was all Dominic had left of him, and now it was gone. Gone to ash, dissipated in the wind.

Thinking back on that day, even though it was 6 years ago, Dom still can feel the tears rise to his eyes. He was a bit of a sensitive soul when alone, hard to control his emotions and thoughts when there was no one to keep his mind busy. That is why he was constantly with people, and the people believed he was like sunshine. His hair spoke volumes, for they contained the gold of the sun itself and yet... the powers given to him, were dark, consuming. The powers of death and decay. For someone whose considered sunshine to people, but holds the power of death is very contradicting. However, Dominic believes in a bright future, a future where he can help people, a future where his powers won't cause death or destruction. Hope can win some battles, but not all of them.
