Chapter 10: Cameron

Cam thought back to how the past hour had transpired; first he- with the help of his criminal parents- had set the fire, in a building that he had picked -fully knowing that it didn't have a large population, and was basically abandoned; Because let's be real, Cam really doesn't vibe with criminal activity, it's just not a vibe- after picking this building, his mom, dad, and him had then set the fire, then Cam called the fire station on a burner because he felt bad.

Then he heard a girl scream... and then doing exactly what his parents told him not to do, he ran back into the fire and found her.

Crouched in a corner, crying and on the verge of passing out due to smoke inhalation. He had to wait for her to pass out though, because he couldn't have word of the son of the city's most notorious criminals/ city's richest family saving a child, get out. It would create too many questions.

But anyway, after the girl passed out, Cam carried her out the fire escape down the hall- the stupid kid hadn't even tried to go for it- and after depositing the kid outside, Cam went back into the fire. Straight through the building was the fastest way to get to the agreed meeting point, within the allotted time. And then the fucking cute firefighter chose to fall through the damn floor, break his neck, die, and then come back to life before passing out... and cam saved him.

Son of the city's secret arsonists, the biggest pains in the fire stations' asses, saved a firefighter. Cam had been seen, and the witness was a vampire, which is the story he was sticking to until evidence on the contrary presented itself.

Then Cam had carried the extremely cute vampire firefighter, out of the burning building, deposited him on the ground in the middle of an alleyway that Cam had deemed,
"Safe enough."

Then he left, hustling to the meeting place moments before his mother had an aneurysm. She was clearly not full of motherly concern, instead being more concerned over the possibility that their charade was up, that they were discovered. Cam decided against the truth when he was interrogated, opting more for the,

"I took the scenic route." lie.

He had saved a boy. A very cute boy. A very cute boy who now knew his face.
