Chapter 9: Dominic
When Dominic felt his consciousness stir, he could feel the massive migraine piercing his skull. He groaned slightly as he felt a shiver travel across his spin, the ground was cold now, not overwhelmingly hot. Blinking, Dom scanned his surroundings.
He was back in alleyway, the tall brick walls towering over him. Glancing back toward the building on fire, dread filled his stomach. Had that little girl gotten out? Did Angry Angel boy save her too? Speaking of which, where did he go?
Dominic did a 360 in hopes of having Angel man appear, maybe summon him from the nearby trash cans or something. But no, he was alone. Suddenly, the ache in his neck felt very present, so Dom lightly brought his hands to it. He ran his fingers down each side of the spine, and couldn't help but wince when his spine felt rough. It wasn't the usual smooth feeling, and Dom immediately thought he might need some medical attention. Hopefully he could walk.
Deciding it was time to get out of the alley, Dominic rose to his feet slowly, not wanting to push his luck. He did make it to his feet, and although he was unbalanced, he could walk with holding onto the wall. Before he could make it to the end of the alley, a person appeared.
Her features were drawn with worry, her helmet was long gone, leaving her messy blonde hair falling and framing her face. Dark eyes filled with relief as she rushed forward. Dominic winced as she embraced him, for it was right against his neck. He could hear a stifled sob as she buried her head into his shoulder. Dominic couldn't help but wonder how long he had been taller than her, not long ago he only reached her hips. Rubbing her back Dom muttered, "I'm okay mom." Before collapsing into her embrace.
