Chapter 5: Dominic

The hot flames licked the building, growing and beginning to consume it almost entirely. The blaring Sirens hurt Dominic's ears as he watched the chaos commence. He was watching his Father suit up, the huge suit covered his whole body except for his hands. The Fire suit had been specially made for his Father, so he could use his Frost powers easily.

Dominic's imagination begin to run wild as he thought of how HQ would design his suit especially for him. Would he too have hand holds? Would the black aura of decay smoke him out? Maybe the mask would be a bad idea for him.... but then he might consume to much smoke...

"DOMINIC PAY ATTENTION!" Dom jumped as his Father's hand smacked his back. He looked up at his Father, his identical green eyes could barely be seen from behind the mask he wore.

"Listen, this fire is at a high degree scale, I have to use my powers to put it out, and your Mother has already entered the building to make sure no one else is in there," Dominic nodded to his Father's words, although they were muffled and kinda hard to hear.

"You stay here and watch," His Father's eyes narrowed as he saw Dom's mouth open to argue. "That's an order son."
With that, his Father raced to help the other Firefighters.

Dominic huffed, he hated sitting here useless... but he didn't know what he was doing, so it would be best to stay back. It was then that a small scream caught his attention, his eyes erratically began searching for the source. There, he spotted her, a small girl clutching to the windowsill of the top floor. Was anyone going to help her? Dominic looked from all the FireFighters, they were all busy doing their jobs and had not heard her.... no one was going to help her.

His teeth grit as he took a deep breath, he would get her. Racing forward, Dom took a detour to the alley way and found a fire escape ladder. He climbed as fast as he could, his arms began to burn from the forceful impact of trying to be fast. Finally he reached the top, to a window and climbed into the building.

The heat was almost unbearable, it tore and ate at Dom's skin. Sweat began to drip down his forehead, as his lungs screamed at the smoke. He kept pushing forward knowing he needed to get to a higher floor, but as he entered the main room a piece of debris fell. Dominic screamed as he jumped out the way, the piece of burning wood catching the back of his leg. His hands held his burnt and bleeding leg, his breath was heavy with smoke and his eyes blurred from the thick air. He was now trapped, the debris had blocked his path, how could he be so stupid? He wasn't cut out for this... and yet he couldn't sit there and wait to die, he needed to move.

Dominic closed his eyes and began to focus, he could use his power of decay to get rid of the debris. Except that would result in burning his hands, but that would be better than burning to death. He crawled forward, unable to put pressure on his injured leg and held out his hands. Reaching, he dug deep for that horrible, but pleasurable feeling of power. He pushed into it, for the first time in years, begging the feeling to grow, to be used.

When he opened his eyes, the black Aura smoked out of his hands in waves. They were powerful and overbearing, years of being held back, made Dominic's power rapid and unpredictable. Dominic leaned forward, aiming for the debris, but a sudden shot of pain caused him to fall forward. His hands fell to the floor, and in seconds the aura sucked into it.

"No... no... NO!" Dominic screamed as the floor disappeared from beneath him. He fell into an abyss of flames and ash, his heartbeat becoming non-existent as his neck snapped against the floor.
