“Oh my god! One more day and we will be doing our big gig!” Caitlin yelled pointing at the calendar I her bunk. They had plenty of practice and were filled with anticipation as each minute went by.
“I know! It’s so crazy to see how far we’ve come in less than 3 months!” Hedda added.
“Thank you Oakland! You rock!” Jessica said walking out of the bathroom with her fist in the air and hairbrush to her mouth as if it were a microphone.
“Jesse you need to die your roots…” Jessica looked in the mirror on the small bathroom door and pulled at her hair. “And so do I” Hedda said pulling at hers. The blue had washed out a bit, it was almost green. Billie sitting on the couch overheard them.
“I know how about we all get our hair did.” Billie said looking from his papers to the bunks.
“Our hair did?” Bella asked with an eyebrow raised.
“Yeah isn’t that what kids say nowadays? Gonna get mah hurr did.” They all looked at each other be for busting out laughing. Then back to Billie.
“Well they might have before but not anymore.” Bella said giggling.
“Oh well anyway why don’t we go get our hair…. fixed?”
“Sounds like fun but we don’t have any money left.” Caitlin said.
“Well I’ll pay for it silly!”
“Alright!” Jessica said jumping up and walking to the couch where Billie was seated.
“Wait right now?” Bella asked.
“Yeah we gotta look super sexy for our concert! Jeez all those people are there to see us!” Jessica said.
“I’m pretty sure they’re there to see Green Day.” Caitlin said.
“No they say Oh its a GREAT DAY too see those girls!… call a cab.” Jessica looked to Billie.
“Way ahead of ya!” Billie had the phone to his ear. The girls got ready and jumped in the cab. “We have to make a quick stop at the post office. I have to get a money order to mail with these letters.” He held up an envelope.
“That’s fine.” They nodded. When they arrived at the post office Billie ran in and five minutes later he was running back to the cab.
“To the hair salon!” He thrust his fist in the air. The girls laughed and cheered. They went to the hair salon and each of them was sat in a chair for shampooing. When they sat in the stylist chairs they had a black cape draped across them. They told each stylist what they wanted. They each were getting fresh dye on the hair. Billie was changing his hair to blonde. “Leave a little root.” He told them. “The last time I went to the scalp I looked fucked up.” After each of them had the dye washed out they had their hair trimmed, only on the ends; Billie a little more. Caitlin watched as each piece fell to the ground. That was less hair she could ruffle her hand through. “That’s good.” Billie said. She was relieved to see there was still enough fluffiness on the top of his head to shake up.
“I’ll get you one of these days.” She said under her breath.
