It had been a few days and the girls found each concert even more amazing than before. They were headed to Wisconsin now.

“Hey maybe would should call Jay!” Bella suggested.

“Yea good idea.” Caitlin said. Hedda walked to her bunk where their phone was plugged in and pulled out the number from her bag. The girls at the orphanage weren’t allowed to many things. A phone was one of them. They were lucky to get their hands on a cd player and some Green Day cd’s which they had to share. They couldn’t get them when the cd was new they had to wait till it was one of their birthdays before they could receive one gift. They decided it’d be best to share. They had shared every cd up till Uno. They didn’t have anymore birthdays coming up after its release, except for Jay’s.  Jay Bailey was 12, due to be 13 in a few weeks. Just before living (escaping) Caitlin bought two prepaid phones, one for them and one for Jay. Jay was like their little sister. They immediately clung to her when she arrived there at the age of 10.

Hedda sat between Caitlin and Bella and dialed. Jessica kneeled in front of her to listen in.

“Hello?” the phone was a bit cut out.

“JAY!” Hedda yelled in excitement. The girls moved in closer. Billie was napping in the passenger’s seat.

“Hedda? Oh my god I was wondering when you guys were going to call.” They smiled. “Where are you?”

“Now if we tell you, you can’t tell Vicky.”

“Of course I wouldn’t tell that megabitch!” Her nickname was very catchy amongst the household.

“We’re coming out of Chicago headed toward Madison, Wisconsin.”

“What? You’re headed to Chicago with a girl named Madison Wisscoss?” Hedda giggled.

“No no. headed OUT of Chicago To Madison Wisconsin!”

“OH! wow you guys sure did cover a lot of ground. Why there?” Bella tilted the phone so she could speak.

“Because girl we’re riding with BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG!” they all looked to the front making sure he didn’t wake up. He just rolled his head turned the window with a bit of drool coming from the corner of his mouth as he snored.

“Your pulling on Jess’s hamstring?”

“Oh god.” Bella laid back. Hedda looked at the phone.

“One bar, no wonder she can’t understand.” She put the phone back to her ear. “No Billie Joe, from Green Day! We’re on his tour bus.” There was a silence and then a gasp.

“HOLY SHIT YOUR JOKING!” The girls all giggled.

“Nope! We’re touring with Green Day.”

“That’s fucking awesome!”

“Jay!” Caitlin retorted to her foul language.

“I know I’m sorry that’s just so awesome!”

“Yeah.” Caitlin smiled.

“So I have good news too!”

“Spill it.” Hedda said brushing her hair back allowing the girls to get closer to the phone.

“I’m getting adopted! The family seems really nice!”

“That’s great!” they said in excitement. Caitlin had a pretty good idea of this. That’s why she told Jay to stay back. She had already seen the couple come in and while she was sweeping the halls She put her ear to Vicky’s door and heard how they were interested in Jay.

“I better go Icky Vicky just returned with Bruce. Bye, love you guys!”  Bruce was Vicky’s sidekick. He was the one that made sure her reputation wouldn’t be ruined.

“Bye we love you too!” They hung up.

“I cant believe that I’m so happy for her! I miss her too.” Bella said.

“Yeah,” they all nodded.

“Well im going to take a nap. Wake me when we’re there!” Caitlin said standing up.

“Me too.” Bella followed her to the bunks.

“I guess it’s just me and you.” Hedda looked at Jessica. Jessica smiled and sat beside her on the couch turning the small TV on. They sat there for awhile and then Hedda looked at Jessica who was concentrated on the tv. She began to think. She knew something was different. “Jesse?”

“Hmmm?” she kept her attention to the Tv.

“Are you ok?”

“Yes why?” She looked at Hedda nodding and then back to the tv.

“Because you seem.. oh I don’t know.. calm. Like really really calm. Have you been taking your medicine?” Jessica gulped then lowered her eye’s to her knee. She started picking at her pants.

“I uh..” she cleared her throat. “I didn’t take it last night.”

“Why?” Hedda quickly asked. She knew it would be bad if she didn’t.

“I ran out.” Jessica whispered biting on the inside of her lip.

“Why didn’t you tell us? Or at least me so we can get you more?” Hedda said lowering her head whispering so no one else could her. Jessica looked at her.

“Because, I think I can handle it. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life on meds ya know?” hedda sighed.

“But you know what happens if you don’t.” There was one time she hadn’t gotten her meds refilled and within a day her personality changed drastically. Hedda could only relate it to the personality of Hulk. Hedda thought Jessica was showing the attitude that her mother had always given to her.

“I was younger then, I pretty sure I can handle it.”

“Pretty sure? Jesse I think you should get a refill just in case.”

“Relax, I will when we get there.” Jessica reassured her. Hedda just raised her eyebrow. “I promise!” Jessica smiled. Hedda smiled back, it was good to see she was happy.

“Alright.” Hedda gave her a hug. She knew Jessica was strong but she also knew that she was a ticking time bomb now, and that scared her most.
