Skipper P.O.V

Silence. "Why are you guys staring at me like I just killed someone?" I glance behind me, and beside me. Davey clears his throat. "So uhh...... you're Jack's goil'? That's what he told us.". The boys nod in agreement. I shrug. "Maybe.". The boys applaud, patting my shoulder. "We ain't been able to find im' a goil' since Kath left!" Davey exclaims. I steal a glance at Jack, who just smiles, looking at the ground.

I break the crowd, jumping up next to Jack. I hold his hand, and he smiles warmly. I return the gesture, kissing his forehead. "You don't need no reporta' now I'm here." I say sweetly. The boys swoon, using each other as support. "AWWWW I love this pairing!" Specs calls out. Suddenly, a small pebble hits Jack in the back of the head. "Ouch!" He grunts. Morris hands Oscar another one, that one a bit bigger. "If you won't sell, you better scram or it'll be your little girlfriend next, Kelly."

He pulls his arm back, aiming for my head. "Give it your best shot, Osca'! I ain't scared a' you!". Just as the rock flies at me, Jack hops down, pulling me down into his arms. The rock flies up through a window, shattering the glass. Oscar curses to himself. Jack sets me back onto my feet. "Newsies...." We all look to him. "hit the streets." And we scatter, out of the metal gate, and onto the crowded sidewalks. As we walk towards the lodging house, my stomach growls. "Hungry? We can hit Tibby's, since we ain't working." Jack says with concern. I nod, following him and a few others inside. I just get a glass of water and a sandwich, not being horribly hungry. Jack talks to me all the while.

I hear his stomach growl, even though he denies it. I tear my sandwich in half, giving him the larger half. He smiles, flashing his surprisingly white teeth. "Thanks, Skip." As the afternoon flashes by, Jack suggests we expand our strike, and get other newsies from Queens, Harlem, and the Bronx in on it. "I'll go to Harlem!" says Finch. "I got Queens!" yells Henry and Elmer. "Aye, Race you take the Bronx." Race nods. Jack thinks, and snaps his fingers. "And who wants Brooklyn?" Jack says hopefully. Everyone looks away, being silent. "Come on, you scared o' Brooklyn?" Jack says teasingly. "I ain't scared of Brooklyn." Buttons says. "It's Spot Conlon who sends me running." He collapses into his chair.

"I'll go to Brooklyn." I say, echoing in the silence. Romeo stares me down, looking mortified. "Jack!" He gets up, standing in front of him. "She's new, she don't know about Brooklyn or Spot Conlon." Romeo states defensively. "I know, I know. I ain't sendin' my goil' to Brooklyn. I know Spot won't turn down a visit from a pretty goil'. We all know that." He says, gesturing to the newsies. They all nod, muttering their agreement. Finally, Jack agrees to go to Brooklyn, while I stay here, and just relax. I wasn't ecstatic at first about the idea, but when Jack promised stargazing and cuddling when he got back, I was sold.

((So yeah, I guess they're the cute, stargazing, cuddling kind of couple :3 I have all of my hard exams over with, Math and History. So yay))
