-Y/N POV
I woke up bright and early to make sure I will be ready to start working along side Ichabod today.
I cheerfully went downstairs from my room and there I saw my mother finishing up breakfast.
"Good morning Y/N. You seem happy today, had a good time yesterday at the dinner?" She asked and the events from last night replayed in my head.
Ichabod and I speaking for most of the night and him actually being interested in me and my work.
"I did mother, I met the new guy in town and he's a lot nicer than the others. He's interested in my work and we talked the whole night. He invited me to work on the new case in town today. So yeah, I am in a pretty good mood" I said and she placed some fruit salad on my plate and did the same for herself.
"Sweetheart, do you fancy him?" She asked placing some fruit in her mouth and looked at me.
"I, I don't know. He's different, he's nice and a true gentleman mother, I'm telling you, you'd like him if you ever meet him. I've never been in love, I don't know what I'm feeling but I want to find out" I said just picturing him smiling at me like he did last night.
"I think this could do you some great things. Now hurry up, it's 9:50 AM. Go get dressed or you'll be late" she said and I look at the small clock on the wall and my eyes open wide.
I ran upstairs and did my morning routine in less than five minutes. I quickly ran downstairs and saw that it was 9:55.
"Bye mom, I'm late" I said kissing her cheek grabbing my bag with my notebooks, pens, and some tools to help the investigation.
I ran out of the house and down the street. Some people looked at me strangely but I could care less. I saw the town hall right down the street and I quickly got into the building.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me confused as to why I was there.
"Y/N! Welcome dear please come and join me" I heard Ichabod say and I turned to his direction and walked fast up to him and hugged him.
He tensed up a little bit but quickly melted into it. I could smell his lovely scent, taking in long deep breaths.
"Good morning Ichabod, how was your morning so far?" I asked and we began to walk toward a small room and he handed me the file.
"It has been just fine so far, hopefully better now that you are here to help me" he said and I blushed while reading over the main details of the case.
"Have you seen the body yet?" I asked him looking up from the file and Ichabod took my bag and placed it on a table in the small office.
"No, not yet. The information that the directives collected about the bodies isn't the best but one thing did stand out, the body's temperatures was very low" he said pointing out the temperature information in the file.
I went over to the door and closed it, letting us have some privacy while discussing farther information.
"I read from an old grimoire that some vengeful spirits can attack people, going through the body a couple of times would make their body temperature drop significantly" I explained getting back to the table and writing down this theory.
"Where have you read that?" He asked me completely interested in the information.
"I told you, I have books in my library at home. Also this isn't my first time dealing with such spirits" I explained looking back up from the notebook and I suddenly realized how close Ichabod was next to me, staring at me intensely.
He looked into my eyes and we got caught with each other's gaze.
"Welcome Mr. Crane, what is she doing here?" Mr. Lance asked looking at me up and down in disgust.
"I've invited her to join me in this investigation" Ichabod explained looking sure of himself.
"I thought you said that women shouldn't work in men's job?" Mr. Lance asked, holding his walking cane in a fancy manner.
"I did, but that's not what I believe. Women are just as capable as men and sometimes even better than us" he explained.
I stood behind Ichabod, hiding the smile and blush that appeared on my face.
"Well then, good luck lad" Mr. Lance said and quickly exited the room, closing the door behind him, leaving us alone once again.
"Doesn't that feel better? Telling the truth, what you believe in?" I asked, now sitting on the table and he turned around and got closer to me.
"Yeah I guess so" he said getting closer to me.
I shifted a little, I didn't know how to handle such attention from a guy that I find interesting.
He placed each arm on the opposite side of my body and looked at me straight in the face.
"Have you ever kissed anyone Y/N?" Ichabod asked not moving away.
"No, no I've never found anyone to kiss" I said and looked down at his lips.
"May I kiss you?" He asked and I couldn't resist anymore.
I pulled on his black overtop coat into a kiss that surprised both of us. He melted right into the kiss and was gentle with it.
"We still have a case to solve" I said after pulling away in order to catch my breath and a chuckle left his lips.
"Let's head out, they should have The body in the morgue" he said grabbing my bag and handing it to me before beginning to walk to the door but I quickly stopped him.
"What are you doing? We have to -" he said but I cut him off with another kiss.
"Let's go" I said smiling and going before him.
*a slight time skip*
Ichabod and I have been working all day on the body, witnesses, and researching some possible ways of normal human killing.
"I think we better call it a night for now" Ichabod said closing the book he has been reading for the past hour or so.
"Alright, I guess it is getting late" I said looking at my pocket watch.
"Wou- would you like to come over for dinner?" Ichabod asked nervously.
"Sure, why not. If you want, we can stop by my house and I can give you some books about spirits" I said coming up to him and gave him a quick peck on the lips.
"I'd like that. So have you never been in a relationship before?" He asked me as we exited the office and headed out of the town hall.
"Nope, I just never really got around to have one" I explained and the snow was still falling since the night before.
"Well you are an excellent kisser. Also how did you start encountering spirits?" He asked looking at me as we walked down the street.
"Well it's something that I've always had. I have this connection with them, with the supernatural world. It's hard to explain really but the main part is that I've learned how to control it" I explained but he still seemed confused but didn't push on the subject.
We continued to walk and quickly got to my house. We walked up the front porch and I opened the door, letting Ichabod in first and I quickly followed.
"Mother? Are you home?" I yelled out waiting for a respond.
We began hearing foot steps moving on the second floor and soon followed to the stairs. My mother was there coming closer to us and hugged me.
"You must be the new guy in town that my daughter kept talking about" she said and I quickly scratched my neck looking away as his gaze landed on me.
"Nice to meet you Mrs. Y/L/N, I'm Ichabod" he said politely shaking her hand.
"I'll be right back" I said and ran upstairs letting Ichabod speak with my mother.
I went to my room where I store the most important grimoires and looked for one about spirits and how to deal with them.
I found the one and went down stairs seeing that my mother had offered Ichabod tea.
"Hey, this is one of my best books that you can read about spirits and if you have trouble with the language I can help you" I said and my mom's face fell a little.
"Are you a connector as well?" She asked him placing her cup down on the table.
"I beg your pardon?" Ichabod asked.
"I haven't taught him yet. He's new at the supernatural mother, he had his first encounter a couple of months ago" I explained and Ichabod sat there raising his eyebrow.
We quickly finished our tea and left the house. The snow was now coming harder than before causing the both of us hurry up and begin to run to Ichabod's house.
"Here we go, Jonathan! Where are you?" Ichabod said as he opened the door, letting me in.
"Here sir. I've made dinner already and I've cleaned the house" the young lad said and Ichabod smiled happily at him, giving him a nice pat on the back.
"Jonathan, this is my new friend Y/N, the one from yesterday at the dinner that you left early" he said and I shook Jonathan's hand.
"Nice to meet you miss, will you be joining us for dinner?" I nodded pulling my hand back and looked back at Ichabod.
He was already on the couch with the book opened on his lap, his index finger showed what lines he was on.
Jonathan excused himself to do something in the kitchen and I got behind Ichabod. He was so concentrated on the old book that he didn't even realize that I was there. His black hair was covering his eyes but it didn't matter to him. He seemed adorable, like nothing in the world can bother him at that moment.
"This text is mixed with old languages that I've never seen before" he said a little frustrated.
"It's latín, ancient Hebrew and Mayan" I said jumping over the couch and landing right next to him.
"And you can read this?"
"Yeah, I was raised speaking many languages, I started reading these books when I was around seven, I can read these texts pretty well" I explained.
"You are strange, but interesting. What did your mother talk about? Connector?" He asked looking at me as I looked over the text.
My eyes shot up to look in his eyes.
"A connector is a person who experiences spiritual activity. They can do things that others can't, they can see things that others can't. Spirits normally get attached to them or even hunt them at some points. Also it's not only spirits, it's everything supernatural. From demons to night crawlers to vampires" I explained and he simply nodded.
"Would you teach me?"
"If you'd like me to, I'll try my best" I said and we heard Jonathan called us over to the dinner table.
We all ate and made jokes. I found out that Ichabod has a room-brightening laugh and even that he's scared of bugs. After the dinner I helped them clean the kitchen and Jonathan went upstairs to sleep.
"Let's start" I said and grabbed the book.
Ichabod came and sat on the coach next to me.
I took my shoes off and crossed my legs, facing Ichabod on the couch.
"First, spirits don't have to be evil. They can be nice, some of them even watch over their families after they feel comfortable leaving them. The ones that were murdered or something terrible happened to them, they would want to get revenge, hence the hunting of the girls" I explained.
"But wouldn't they want to move on, find peace with themselves?"
"Most of the time they do move on, but when they don't they can start going crazy. One important thing to know is that demons and spirits are very different. Demons were never humans, they were made and held in hell and they can escape. They like bothering the leaving world because it gives them more power. I am aware that the "thing" that killed the hikers were vengeful spirits of the poor girls that were killed long ago, mainly because I've spoke with them. They are quite nice but I believe that one was angered due to the new construction in town" I said and he took notes in his notebook of everything I just said.
His handwriting was neat and organized, nothing like my own. I would always try to catch up on notes but my mind would race and it would be disorganized.
"Everything supernatural uses the energy that surrounds them. There is energy all around us all the time and when you learn to concentrate on it, you can do so many things" I said and he noted it down as well.
"Can we control such energy?" He asked and a small smile grew on my face.
I looked at the pillow that was besides us and took a single feather out. I cupped it in my hands, letting it sit there. I closed my eyes feeling the energy all around me, taking slow deep breaths until the feather began to fly. I opened my eyes looking at the feather and began moving it from side to side using soft movements of my fingers. I looked up at Ichabod and his mouth was wide open in shock. I brought the feather down slowly to my hand again and that's when the silence was broken.
"That's incredible! If everyone knew of this the world would have such a huge change! I want to know how. I want to know everything. Teach me! Teach me please!" He said pacing across the room before coming up to me and begging me.
"I will, just so you know, nobody knows everything about the supernatural. There's so much to learn, even I don't know everything and I've been taught since I was born" I explained chuckling and sitting him back down on the couch.
"I can give you an English copy of some books so it'll be easier for you to read" I said and he nodded excitedly.
He seemed to be deep in thought so I didn't bother him. He just held his chin in his hands looking around the room probably thinking about everything that's now opened up for him. Suddenly I heard a loud yell and looked at him jumping on top of the couch holding his legs close to himself.
"What's wrong?" I said thinking that there was a murderer in the house.
"Sp-sp- sp-spider!" He said point to the small table in front of the couch.
I look at the small creature with long legs and realized that it was the harmless spider.
"Of this little guy? He's not poisonous whatsoever, you shouldn't worry about him" I said holding my hand out and it climbed up my hand.
"Kill it" he said and I let out a small smile.
"This little guys common name is actually Daddy Long-Legs, you can just see the men sitting there and naming his type. They kill and eat other bugs but they are completely harmless for humans, they can't even puncture the skin" I explain but he wouldn't relax.
"You should face your fears more often Ichabod" I said and he shook his head fast.
"Let your hand out, it'll climb up and just sit there I promise if you feel uncomfortable I'll take it off" I explained and grabbed his hand.
The spider crawled slowly onto his hand and he tensed up but slowly relaxed. The spider just sat on his hand while he examined the spider.
"Beautiful, absolutely magnificent" he said still looking at the spider.
"I told you that it won't hurt you" I said and kissed his cheek.
He blushed and a small smile grew on his cheeks. He got up and went towards the wall, he let the spider go. Letting it stay inside the house instead of outside in the cold winter.
"I was always scared of bugs since I was little. When I was young I fell down a hole in a field that my friends and I used to run around in. The hole was full of spiders and bugs and since then I couldn't even be in the same room as one" he explained and I got up and hugged him from the back.
"And now thanks to you, I think that I can face them" he said turning around and kissing me softly.
"Your welcome" I said sassily and he laughed.
We went back to the couch and began to work on notes again.
We spent hours on the book and the basics and at a certain point we fell asleep holding onto each other, saying a small goodnight to each other.
