Chapter 1

Hi my name is Kamryn Smith. I'm your ordinary teenage girl with the big dreams and fangirling but I'm also a fairly famous YouTuber known as Kamryn Sophia, I know what your think 'ohh a comedian' but nope, I'm not that kind of YouTuber. I sing covers of songs because I don't have enough talent to write my own but besides that I'm pretty average.

I'm 16 and live in L.A with my father, well kind of, he's hardly ever home anymore. My mother died 2 years ago when I was 14 and after that it was too 'painful' for my dad to be in the house, so he took a job that has him flying around the world for meetings, because my dad is never here he doesn't no much about me, he knows I sing and have a YouTube channel but he doesn't know that I'm as successful as I am, but I don't mind.

I'm alone 3/4 of the time and that's the way I like it, because every time my dad is home he either brings his work with him or mopes around.

So in other words my 'family' pretty much fell apart after my mum died. She used to tell me that I would achieve great things with my singing. So here I am 2 years later working my way to the top with a camera and a YouTube channel, trying desperately to make my mother proud.

Anyway enough of the sad sappy past, I've just woken up and decided that I should probably film a video since I haven't done one in a little over a week, if you haven't noticed already I'm not very consistent with my channel.

I hop downstairs with my camera and tripod and begin to set up my living room.

Now for the hard part... What song?

I finally decided on The Weight by Shawn Mendes, on a side not Shawn Mendes is my inspiration if it wasn't for him it wouldn't be making videos today.

I practise a bit on my guitar before pressing record.

"Hey guys Kamryn here and today I'll be doing a cover of The Weight by Shawn Mendes... Enjoy" I finish my introduction and begin to strum the cords.

"There you go guys, I hope you enjoyed it, remember to like and subscribe for more covers" I say, I blow a kiss to the camera and end it. I don't know why but ever since I started I always blew a kiss to the camera.

I began the long process of uploading and got bored after about 5 minutes, I walked to the kitchen to find something to eat, because that's what you do when your bored... Eat.

I went to check the progress of my video and realised it was done, I watched as the likes and comments came flooding in. I try to answer as many comments as I can, I don't want people thinking I'm some snobby YouTuber.

I scrolled through the comments until one caught my eye...

ShawnMendes- You have an amazing voice! We should sing a duet some time :)

HOLY SHIT!

Shawn Mendes just commented on my video! And he wants to do a duet!

I started running around my living room screaming until I realised I hadn't answered him, I ran back to my computer and hit reply.

KamrynSophia- Thank you! I would love too :)

As I sent it my phone went off, it was a notification from Twitter.

It's a direct message... From Shawn Mendes!

Shawn Mendes- Hey I wasn't joking we should totally do a duet together! What's your number? :)

This is not real, what is life?!?!?

Kamryn Sophia- aha okay, well it's 0423 678 098 :)

2 minutes later I got a text from an unknown number.

Unknown-
Hey! It's Shawn :)

Me-
Heyyy!

Unknown-
You have an amazing voice!

Me-
Why thank you, so do you :) aha

Unknown-
Thank you, well I'm leaving for America tonight, so I was thinking we could do our duet when I get over there, maybe?

Me-
That's would be great!! I better let you go :) see you when you get here.

Unknown-
Okay, see you then :)

I added his contact as 'Shawn✌🏻️' because ️ you'd be lying if the first emoji that comes to your head when you think of Shawn wasn't a peace sign.

I jumped up off the lounge and ran to my home phone to call my best friend, yes the home phone because using my cell costs me money, using the home phone costs my dad money.

I dialled her number and it started to ring, half way through the 2nd ring she picked up.

"Sidney?"

"Yeah?"

"Guess what?" I asked getting excited.

"What?" She asked in a bored tone.

"Shawn Mendes has my number and he wants to do a duet!" I yelled, I heard muffled screams and then she came back to the line.

"ARE YOU SHITING ME?!" She asked squealing.

"NOO!" I squealed.

"I'm on my way!" That was the last thing I heard before the line went dead.
