The day of the ball

"Sire, is this really a good idea?" Asked Leon for the millionth time. "Yes! And we're doing it, now let's go!" Replied the prince while shoving his fellow knight towards the palace. The prince and knights put on their masks. Arthur wore a pendragon red mask, Elyan a purple one, Leon an orange one, and Percival wore a yellow one.

Then they saw the castle. It was almost bigger than Camelot's. It even looked like it was glowing. But unlike in Camelot there were no walls separating the citadel from the lower towns. Easy to penetrate during war. Thought Arthur.

The ball seemed to take place both inside the castle's ballroom and in the courtyard to fit all the guests. Nobody seemed to be treated differently because of their class however. Mixes of clothing that looked expensive and some obviously from commoners littered the dance floor. The food outside seemed of the same quality as the one inside. The area was lite up by floating bright orbs of light, magic surely. Arthur had never seen anything like it.

"It's magnificent" said Percival while looking around them in wonder. Arthur, coming back to his senses, coughed. "It's not that great, come on". The knights snapped out of their daze and followed the prince inside.

Once inside they looked towards the throne and found the Queen of Anglia. Arthur frowned, she didn't seem evil. But then again that's how sorcerers were. They'll deceive you and stab you in the back when given the chance. He also noticed the prince wasn't in his throne. His father wouldn't let him hear the end of it if he didn't show up on time for a celebration.

He decided to wait a bit longer to see any heinous act or abuse of power, but nothing happened. He waited and waited and waited.
Eventually he gave up staring and told his knights to have fun but still keep their guard up. He was near the desserts wondering if they were safe to eat or if he'd be turned into a frog or something.

When he was about to grab a small pie a man walking backwards ran into him. "Hey! Watch it!" He yelled at the man. When said man turner around he immediately said 'sorry' and straight up kissed him on the lips.

"Sorry, it was a dare!" Said the dark-haired man with a white mask that highlighted his blue eyes and ran away before Arthur could fully comprehend what had happened.
