17 | Table manners

Toni placed the wine Kenny brought down on the island sighing as she heard Helen and Michigan arguing. She ran her hand down her face in exhaustion she really didn't feel like going back in there and interfering because both would expect her to take their sides. She felt a hand get placed at the low of her back making her jump and turn around.

"Kenny." She let out a breathe of relief.

"What has you all stressed already?" He chuckled.

"Don't you hear that?" She asked.

He squinted his eyes listening closely before he nodded.

"Dang. Your mom really isn't a fan of your husband." Kenny laughed stealing a grape from the fruit salad.

Toni shrugged before she checked on the food.

"You need some help with that?" He asked.

"No-"

"Clearly you do." He shook his head helping her out.

He grabbed the nearest cloth and stood behind her helping her remove the pan from the oven.

"Imagine you fall face first and burn yourself on this shit and then you lose half of your face, you'd look horrible." Kenny laughed making her laugh.

"You're so stupid who even thinks about stuff like that?" Toni shook her head before she felt his breath hit her skin.

She bit her lip as he kissed her shoulder moving towards her neck.

"Ken." She whispered turning her face to the side, they looked into each other's eyes before their lips connected.

"I can't stand-" Sydney paused as the two quickly pulled away.

Sydney palmed her face, "y'all still haven't learned since this afternoon when I caught y'all. Dang... you must be really good in bed." Sydney said facing Kenny who chuckled wiping Toni's lipgloss from his lips.

"Stop it." Toni scolded Sydney.

"Those two are on the verge of killing each other and you're over here kissing your lover." Sydney scolded shaking her head.

Toni rolled her eyes, "can you two please bring the food to the dining room while I go solve that problem." Toni sighed and Kenny nodded as Toni walked out and walked into the dining room.

"And I'm so happy you two haven't had any kids of y'all own so she can still leave your ass whenever she damn well pleases." Helen spat as everything died down.

"Can you two not, Joshua you okay?" Toni asked looking down at him.

"I'm fine. I just don't like to see people yelling at my daddy." Joshua wiped away his tears.

Toni frowned hugging him, "how about you help me set the table?" Toni said.

Joshua immediately smiled and got up running into the kitchen.

"Just get along for two more hours. Just until dinner is over, this is supposed to be a nice family dinner. No drama please." Toni begged.

"I agree with Toni." Greg nodded.

"I can't keep looking up and seeing this woman." Sydney groaned.

"I can't keep looking up and seeing you either. Kenny please swap seats with me." Helen said.

Kenny frowned before he watched as Helen got up and came over to his side, he sighed getting up grabbing his plate and walked over to where Helen was seated and sat down. Toni tried her best to not look at Kenny who now sat right next to her, she played with the food in her plate as Sydney kept giving her those weird looks.
