Chapter 25

25 | Happy without me

Kenny watched as Toni pulled the driver's side door open, she leaned down and got inside and Kenny quickly grabbed the door before she could close it making her look up at him and smack her lips together.

"Kenny-"

"I know." He nodded sadly, "but it doesn't have to be this way. We deserve a happy ending." He sighed refusing to believe that they weren't meant to be.

She smiled lightly, "I know." She nodded.

"Then why do you insist on leaving?"

"Kenny... don't make this harder than it already is." She shook her head fighting back the tears.

"We can be so happy together. We could get married and have a bunch of healthy and beautiful babies-"

She grabbed ahold of his hand and got out the car, she caressed his cheek placing her forehead against his.

"You deserve better."

"But you are better."

"No I'm not." She shook her head biting her lip as they stared into each other's eyes. "You can't be with the person you cheated on your spouse with-"

"Just so we're clear, I got attached to you the day of the party, when I first saw you and approached you. You took my breathe away. You're so beautiful." He smiled moving her hair out of her face.

She looked down.

"What we did might've been wrong but it always felt so right to me and I know you regret it that's why you're so stuck on leaving me and I get it." He nodded before he let out a heavy breathe.

"I won't hold you up any longer." He moved back.

She stared at him for awhile before he pulled out a tiny box from his pocket and held it out to her making her scrunch her face up in confusion.

"What's this?"

"I bought for you awhile back and I never got the chance to give it to you-"

"Ken I can't-"

"Yes you can. I'm not taking it back so you might as well just keep it." He shrugged slipping his hands into his pockets.

She opened the box and pulled out the bracelet.

"I love it." She smiled before she looked up at him and grabbed his face and kissed his lips one final time, the kiss felt completely final.

She pulled away and got into the car. He watched as she reversed and drove off. He knew that it was over, it was all in the kiss they'd just shared.

"Hey. How you feeling?" Sydney asked placing a breakfast tray down in front of Toni.

"I'm fine thanks." Toni said looking down at everything making her smile, "you know that you don't need to bring me breakfast every morning right?"

"Don't be silly. I want to."

"Especially since I ruined your wedding day-"

"Are you kidding me so much drama I lived for it." Sydney smiled making Toni laugh, "you're so stupid." Toni shook her head before it went completely silent.

"How's Kenny?"

Sydney sat down next to her, "I don't know." Sydney mumbled making Toni frown.

"What do you mean?" Toni asked sitting up.

"Well I haven't exactly seen him since you two parted ways and I told him you'd be staying with us until you're fully ready to start all over again." Sydney said putting a grape into her mouth.
