44: Promise

"Sage?"

Nilakbay ko ang aking kamay sakanyang bewang upang mayakap ito ng maharan. Alas dose na sa gabi pero gising na gising parin ang aking kaluluwa. I don't really know why. But ever since the 4th sign appeared, I started feeling uncomfortable in an unexplainable way.

Sage is already in his deep sleep, his face buried in my hair, his hands around me. This might be the only thing keeping me intact. For days we've been so busy with everything. Training is harsher, meetings happen every so often now and the only rest I've been receiving is my alone time with the male I cherished the most.

I never would've thought that there will be a time I'd wish my days with him would run slower. Immortals asking for time. That's funny. Maybe because it all just sunk in, how dangerous the real problem we're about to be facing after 2 months.

Muli kong yinakap ng mahigpit si Sage, afraid of something I still can't comprehend. With my softest voice, I called his name "Sage?"

For the third time this night, I took in his scent. It didn't actually hit me that his scent is the trigger to my own serenity until I started finding it whenever I feel uncomfortable or displeased. I've been so caught up in smelling his own emotions that I forgot about his manly scent. I thought I couldn't get to scent him dahil nga sa kapangyarihan niya, but ever since the night we started to sleep side by side, roon ko lang 'rin napagtanto na kaamoy niya talaga ang sariwang tubig. With the hint of aggression and power, that is. Water is his natural scent and I can't find peace in this chaotic world but in his aroma and embrace alone.

Water in truth is really calming.

Pinindot pindot ko ang kanyang matigas na braso. "Sage, gumising ka"

I can feel him breathing, but he's not responding.

"Sage, wake up" I say. My voice soft. "Wake up, Sage"

Pinatakan ko ng halik ang kanyang dibdib.

"Sage.."

Unti unti siyang naalimpungatan sa ginawa ko. Gumalaw ito ng bahagya at malalim na umungol. To finally wake his sleeping soul, I tried to carry my upper body upright. Napadilat siya sa ginawa ko. Blue eyes meeting mine. Ngumiti ako ng malumanay sakanya.

"Pwedeng humingi ng pabor sayo ngayon?"

His brows knitted together after realizing what I was trying to say. Sage grunts and shifts his position to fully have a look at me from his place. Muscles contracted as he moves even a little bit, the blanket only covering half of his breathtaking body. When he speaks, his voice still hoarse from waking up. "What time is it?"

"Malapit na mag one"

"In the morning?" He sounded tired. I suppressed a smile.

"Yes, darling. It's one in the morning" Napunta uli ang kamay ko sakanyang bewang, "Do you think you could go and have a date with me right now?"

Mukhang nagulat ko ata siya kasi umiba ang ekspresyon sakanyang mukha. Kinusot kusot nito ang mga mata at matalim akong tinignan.

"Sweetheart," He gently pulls me towards him. One of my breasts grazes his lips, and I tingle from the subtle contact. "May problema ba? May bumabagabag ba sa isipan mo ngayon? You look like you didn't sleep"

Inayos ko pwesto ko para maglebel ang aming mga mata. "Nope. I couldn't sleep. That's all. Gusto ko lang umalis sa palasyo ngayon. Magpahangin. Take me on a date for the night?"

"It's one in the morning, sweetheart"

"Sa lawa uli tayo, Sage"

Unti unti ng sumilay sakanya ang ngiti. "Hindi ka ba inaantok?"
