Frost Pratid woke up in a dark room. The 15 year old had no recollection of getting there, or who the other kids lying unconscious on the cold floor were. He tried to move his arms, but then felt the metal chains around his wrists, ankles and the ones tying his arms to his body. As he struggled, he saw another body stirring on the floor.
"Are you as confused as I am?" the figure said, with a voice definitely belonging to a girl.
"I guess. Who are you?"
"I'm Rose. Are you a half-blood?"
"A half-what? I...." The memory started coming back to him in bits and pieces. That glowing dude. What was his name?
Some of the others started waking, with similar expressions of confusion, and anger when they saw their restraints.
"Let me out!" one shouted, and let out a string of words that definitely would have gotten him in trouble in school.
"That one's got a problem," a girl said so quietly Frost barely heard her.
"What did you say to me?" the boy raged. Frost heard more chains rattling, then a commanding voice spoke up.
"People! Stop yelling! Don't you guys see the writing on the wall?"
As annoying as this mysterious girl sounded, she was right. Something was written messily on the wall in a glowing red. If Frost didn't know better, he would have thought it was written in blood. On the wall read two words.
GET OUT
"I guess we have to get out," Someone said quietly.
It felt like an eternity before Frost decided to speak up. "This is about to sound cheesy, but we need to work together,"
Another moment of silence. "What are your names?" Frost tried.
"Why should we tell you?" someone grumbled.
"C'mon, it's just a name. Besides, don't you think we can trust each other?" Frost sighed."I'm Frost."
"Frost? What kind of name is that?"
"Don't make fun of him, jeez." The other boy continued,"I'm Blake."
"I'm Cameron, but you can call me Cammie. This is fun!" Cammie said from across the room.
"Being tied up in a dark room with a bunch of strangers is your idea of fun?" A girl said. "I'm Lunar. It's not a pleasure to meet you."
"Wow, you seem nice," said another boy. Frost recognized him as the boy who was yelling earlier. "I'm Ariyan. And no, you can't call me something easier to say." At that point, he was practically shouting.
"Can you please stop screaming?" asked a soft, feminine voice. "My name's Aspen."
The other four introduced themselves as Elyse, James, Rose, and Rasika, "But you can call me Rasi." she said.
"How are we supposed to get out?" Rose asked. Rasi responded, "I'm not too sure, but I think we can use the door. That's normally how I get out of rooms, but if you do it differently, go ahead." Rose scoffed. "I mean out of these chains, I know there's a door." Frost tried to make out her features, but the room was much too dark.
"Just break it," Ariyan said."What are you talking about?" Rose exclaimed, "It's not physically possible to just break out!" Ariyan tried to break out and failed. "See? I told you it's not possi-" Ariyan stretched out his arms and legs and the metal chains shattered. Everyone stared at him in disbelief. The chains which wrapped around his wrists, ankles and tying his arms to his body were no more than scraps of metal on the floor.
"How did you-"
"Just break it," he said again.
Rose spluttered. "These chains are made of iron! There's no way a mortal like you could've done something like that. Are you a half-blood?"
"Okay, what is with you and the word half-blood?" Frost asked.
Rose stared at Ariyan expectantly.
Blake piped up,"Wow! That's awesome! I'm gonna try!" Blake wriggled in his chains, but instead of breaking free, his chains got tighter. "Bad idea!" he squeaked, his face turning purple. Ariyan sniggered.
"Somebody do something!" Frost yelled. He wasn't about to just sit there and let Blake lose blood circulation and die. Nobody moved, they all seemed petrified. "Fine." He thought, and tried to get out of his chains to help. Wrong choice. The chains tightened on him and he felt all the blood rush away from his arms. It burned. He felt like fire, all his body felt hot and he knew he would never make it out alive. This was the end. He closed his eyes and-
"Frost! You're on fire!"
