The morning sun brushed against Kai's eyes by the time he awoke.Talk about killer headaches, he thought while rubbing his hand over his face. He looked around and saw Minx asleep in the driver's seat. Her makeup was smudged under her eyes, but that didn't do anything to taint her beauty. The girl was gifted with good genes, that he could admit.
Her long black hair was tossed and tangled across the seat and her legs had curled themselves closer to her body for warmth. In the sunlight, her hair could pass for a really dark brown.
Kai watched the steady rise and fall of her chest deep in thought. It was true that she was his only friend, but did he really consider her a friend? The last friend the boy had ended up getting scared off by his father and that was years ago, back when he was still in elementary school. He didn't know if he actually thought of Minx as a friend or not, still only convinced he saw her as a challenge to conquer.
The girl stirred in her sleep but Kai's stare didn't sway. When she woke up and felt his gaze she didn't even flinch.
She expected he was the type to stare at people while they slept. Probably liked the idea of said person being at his mercy.
"Morning sleepyhead. What do we have planned for today? I'm thinking pancakes and a couple murders to spice things up a little."
Minx groaned out loud and shifted so she was facing him more. "It's too early for.. well, you. I'll drop you back at your house or something."
"Noooo! That doesn't sound appealing in the slightest. I'd much rather spend my day blessing you with my presence." He pointed at himself and raised his eyebrows.
"Kai, I have to go home to shower and I don't think you'd want to be there for the shit-show that's awaiting me." She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand. "My dad's going to be pissed that I didn't come home."
"Uh, duh! Of course I wanna be there! I'll finally get to meet the Mr. and Mrs.!"
Minx mentally smacked herself when she realized she was actually thinking about it. Her parents were obviously going to be furious that she didn't come home, so maybe if Kai was there her dad wouldn't go all Mike Tyson on her. "I cannot believe I'm doing this.." She mumbled.
"Huh? Couldn't catch that, babe. Can you try again and use English this time?" Kai ran a hand through his hair and she rolled her eyes, cranking the keys in the engine and pulling off the corner of the road.
"I told you not to call me that you douchebag."
He smiled to himself and yelled, "CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER THE MUSIC BABE!" Minx ignored him and continued her drive home with more pressing questions running around her head.
She turned the radio down and glanced at the boy. "Don't you want to go home and, oh I don't know, shower? Brush your teeth? Change?"
He shrugged and looked out the window. "We can do that after we go by your place. It only takes me like 3 minutes."
