Minx's POV

Happiness. It's a word that I didn't know the meaning of for a long time. Days would pass by either feeling very short or staggeringly long. Never had I ever thought I'd feel a smidge of pure joy, but Kai Parker has yet to not prove me wrong in many ways. Maybe it's because our home situations are similar, or maybe we actually have a connection that was made in the stars.

The concept of fate and destiny is unfamiliar. Believing in that sort of stuff sounds like a brilliant way to crush your own dreams when things don't turn out how you expected them to. I don't remember a time in my life where I believed in true love or any sort of fairytale like that, but I'm starting to believe that everyone has a destiny, whether it be good or bad.

In the realm of possibility, could mine just so happen to be good? It seems like a long shot, but trauma does have its plus sides. Who knows, maybe I'll become a millionaire with a bomb sense of humor?.... Yeah probably not.

Kai makes me feel like I could do anything, as long as I have him by my side. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to take over the world one day. That's a frightening possibility, but I can definitely imagine it.

The said world-ruler was currently sitting on one of my barstools shoving cheetos down his throat. I watched from my place next to the counter as he licked his fingers like a preschooler. "You know, I could've easily made you some breakfast. Eggs, bacon, cereal, toast, omelets. Anything your huge appetite desired."

"You know," He started, "I could've easily sealed your mouth shut with magic an hour ago. Hocus Pocus and all that movie type of shit. But I decided to be nice and let you talk freely. Be thankful, Snow."

I rolled my eyes and propped myself on the counter he was leaning his elbows on. This little rat is in my home. He'd do best to remember that.

"I get it. You're tired from your trip and the absolute excitement you felt from seeing me has faded away, but no need to be an ass. Wash your hands and come to the living room. Catch me up on all of the shit going on back home."

"Fine, fine. Give me a minute." He grumbled. I walked to the large couch and plopped down, sitting criss-cross. It felt good to be able to sit comfortably since I was wearing a pair of yoga pants and an oversized shirt. "Hurry up! God, I forgot how lazy you can be.."

I felt a smack on the back of my head. He had a smug grin as he sat down next to me. "That is no way to talk to your superior, Minx. You'd be in big trouble if I wasn't so comfortable." He stretched, the edge of his maroon shirt coming up a bit to show off his smooth, flat stomach. The things I'd do to this man if he wasn't my best friend...

"Helloooo? Earth to Minx? I've been talking for like, forever, and I'm 99% sure you weren't listening to a word. What's up with you today?"

"Oh-.. nothing, I'm fine. Just spaced out for a second there. What were you saying?"
