As I pull off of my street I enslaved my thoughts in the Spellman's. Each personality was altered but still left familiar reminisce of each. Sabrina felt so normal, she was sweet, but not too sweet. I still haven't met the boy, but I imagine by the profession that Sabrina told me he is laced in, he's not much life to a party.
Not too excited about wearing a costume for work. I would have preferred if the owners had let me express myself through my own costume. Maybe a devil? Or maybe a witch? I like the thought of being mysterious and dark.
"Do you like it" my new boss asked.
"Well...it's..interesting" I tried to smile through the pain.A fairy.
As I looked at myself in the mirror I caught reflective glitters from the puffy white glittery dress shedding on my skin. The wings were gigantic, why did this man think that these were book shop safe? The dress was floor length, a fairytale wedding style dress, yuk.
"Hello loves-OMG YOU LOOKED SPLENDID!!!" Hilda gasped as she walked through the entrance of the store.
"I hope you absolutely love it darling! I picked it out just for you!" She looked like a mother attending her daughter's wedding.
"It's...great thanks Ms. Spellman" I forced a half smile.Of course she picked this hideous piece out for me.
"You're the light of the store!" Cerberus clapped.
This will be interesting to say the least.
The first day went smoothly. The shop mostly came overran with nerdy prepubescent teens and middle aged women who needed a good romance novel throughout the day. Mr. Cerberus had taught me how to properly stock shelves and ring out customers on his ancient register. Hilda mostly tended to customer service while reading the stores copy of "By Loves Possessed" by James Could Cozzens.
"Hel-oh my" a voice spoke from the front door.
Sabrina.
"Wow, I didn't think it was..so...bright" Sabrina tried to hold in a laugh.
"Yep"
"How do you move in that thing??" As she bent down to touch my train I slapped her hand away.
"Watch it" I laughed.Sabrina quietly finished off a laugh and walked towards Hilda, handing her a bag.
"Ambrose wants pizza for dinner, this is his contribution to your deciding factor"
Hilda opens the bag revealing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich."How sweet" Hilda unwraps the sandwich and takes a bite. The bread sounded crunchy under her jaws.
"Sounds a bit old" Mr. Cerberus pointed out.
"It's the thought that counts love" she smiled at the man."So how old is this Ambrose? 12?" I pictured a little boy rummaging the house, hungry for greasy cheesy pizza. They never spoke much about him.
The three of them let out unison cackles.
"Oh heavens no dearie" Hilda shook her head.
"He's 20" Sabrina rolled her eyes and laughed.
"Oh, that's a little scary" i cringed, hearing a 20 year old man still living with his aunties.
"You should come for dinner tonight Lydia!" Sabrina got excited as she spoke.
"Oh I don't know about tha-" Hilda cut me off.
"Yes! You have to!"
"I have so much..Well, alright. I'll have to ask my mother when I get home but I'm sure she will be thrilled" I had no excuse.
They were delighted. As I left the store, I could not help but to get excited at the thought of seeing the Addams family house up close. I imagined that someone in the house had to be uncle Fester, I had a feeling I was about to meet the man himself.
