Violet sat on the bench of the Hawk as it flew through hyperspace. Young Violet was meditating with the force, extending out through the strange field that binded the universe together to connect with it, growing with the bond every second she tapped into it. Her hazel eyes blinked open at the sound of a roar from the upperlevels of the ship. She smirked at the roar and soon enough saw her uncle come screaming in. She raised an eyebrow, “Do you need help Uncle Chewi?” she asked childishly as her seven year old eyes peered up to the wookie from her spot on the floor. He roared in wookie as she smirked, trying to translate what she heard. “Let me get this straight, the flux capacitor isn't working properly and we are about to drop out of hyperspace in what is hopefully the Jakku System?” she repeated as she was still trying to comprehend the wookie language. As if on cue, the ship shook rapidly making Violet lurch forward and as a aggravated roar came from Chewi. She watched as the big harry wookie ran back into the cockpit. She sighed and stood, following up the latter and to her room. She mumbled to herself with a smile slightly on her face. She pulled on an old jedi robe she had from her mother, the brown robe had been hand stitched to fit her small figure, added decorations of her old paints her father once got from a planet expedition for her.
She holstered her mother’s saber onto her belt and pulled her bag onto her back. She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed with a soft smile on her face, the added accessories reminded her of her deceased parents. Violet shook off the old memories and walked out of her room, pulling her hood up as she walked to the latter and slid down the cold metal. She walked up to her Uncle and sighed, leaning against the wall of the ship. Chewi roared softly and handed her DL-44 Blaster. She looked at the small blaster and took it from him, “What am I supposed to do with this?” She asked confused, earning a small lecture on how a lightsaber wielder can be seen as a threat and the fact it draws attention. She sighed lightly and holstered it onto her side. She walked off the ship, standing next to Chewi, standing only 3 foot 11 made her look impressively smaller to the 6 foot tall wookie as they walked through the sandy fields. After making it into town, they went for the nearest auto shop to find parts for the ship. When entering, Chewi went straight to the owner, asking questions as young Violet’s mind began to wander, soon her feet carrying her to her thought’s desire. She felt a hum in the force, making her follow the sweet sound as it grew louder. Now in the back of the store, she knelt down to find an old BB unit in bad condition. She blew a huff of air onto the round droid, watching as its grey body and dirty red head turn into a dark black and shiny red with highlights of silver. She smiled at the droid and sat down on the floor. She picked up the heavy droid and surveyed it, after finding the access panel, she pushed in a few wires, earning a loud imperial beep from the BB Unit, “Just give me a sec.” she mumbled as she closed the panel and sat the droid down. The round droid beeped multiple insults of fear to Violet as they shot out a taser from their side and aimed it at her. Violet felt a soft smile appear on her face, “I'm not here to hurt you, what's your name? Im Violet Grey.” She asked the droid with wonder in her eyes. The round droid beeps cautiously to her as they retract their taser, making a fond smile replace Violet’s small one, “Pleasure to meet you BB-A7567. Can I call you BB-A?” she asked, earning a beep of playful annoyance from the droid, “Don't give me attitude you beeping beach ball, I gave you life.” She responded as the droid just wobbled towards the front, beeping sarcastic replies.
Violet smirked and quickly pushed herself up, following behind the droid with a childish laughter. She ran to the small droid, not realizing the small ball stopped and tripped over them. She smiled a laugh as she moved back her hood and hair, “Uncle Chewi! Look at what-” she paused, her smile leaving her face as she looked up with fear at her adoptive uncle, a blaster pointed at the back of his hooded head, fear played on her face as she stood quickly and looked at the bounty hunter, She felt like tears where going to spill over her eyelids as she watched the trigger finger move and the sound of a fire came behind the movement.
“No- No!” Violet mumbled as she shot forward in the cockpit of the ship. She sighed tiredly as she rubbed her eyes, trying to erase the horrible memory that had twisted over the years of her departing Spero, or formally known as her Uncle, Chewi. She sighed as she pulled her knees to her chest and shivered slightly at the cool air in the room. She watched as the stars smeared into a light blue and white stream then surveyed the room to find her sketch pad and pencils only a few feet away on the floor. She stood and pulled the old book and pencils to her lap and pulled her legs back up to her chest, shielding the journal as she hugged her legs close to her. She rested her head on her knees with a sigh as the colors mezmorized her. She sat there in her thoughts as she felt the familiar sing of the force radiate through her head, telling her something was about to come through the door and sure enough the sound of someone coming in filled the quiet room.
She didn't move to greet them but instead stared out at the stars shooting past. She heard them pause in hesitation but moved to sit in the co-pilot seat, “Can't sleep?” Violet asked Syala who just nodded her head, “What are you doing in here, I thought you went to bed hours ago?” Syala asked Violet in a raspy voice. Violet hugged her knees closer to herself, “Couldn’t sleep either, came to draw the stars.” She said as she remembered the previous nightmare she had that made her want to come into the cockpit. “What about you? Why are you here?” Violet asked, looking to Syala to see her tear stained face. Her look of tiredness replaced with worry as she fully moved to look at her, her legs falling out of her arms and onto the floor, her sketchbook and pencils falling with her legs to the floor. “My stars- what happened!?” She asked quietly as she moved to the edge of her chair. Syala wiped her face with the edge of her sleeve, her dark brown hair falling infront of her gold accents on her face, “It's nothing Master… Just a bad dream.” She responded quietly as Violet nodded a silent sorry.
A silence fell over them until the sound of Violet’s comm went off. She sighed at the voice, “Hey Vi, you've been gone for awhile. You alright?” It was Jasper. Violet sighed and switched the commlink on, “Yeah, we’re on our way home now. Have you heard from BB-A or Silver?” she asked into the comm, keeping her eyes on Syala, watching the girl quietly fold her legs in on herself and hug them close, “Yeah, they left Lothal a hour ago, said they would be back within the next rotation. Did I wake you?” He asked through the comm. Violet looked to a nearby clock that read 0230, standard time. She sighed, agitated as she answered, “No, you didn't. See you in the next rotation.” and with that the commlink clicked off and the conversation ended.
Silence fell over the two teens once again, the only light from the stars shooting by lighting up the dark room. Violet stood, breaking the silence, as she knelt down to collect her sketchpad and fallen pencils, “Cmon, Hot chocolate will help us fall asleep till next rotation.” Violet said softly, getting Syala’s attention. Syala questioned what she said, wondering if she actually had the mythical drink, she stood and followed Violet to the back of the ship and into the common room. Violet got to work on the hot beverage as Syala sat, “I thought the pods couldnt be found… I thought it was a myth.” Syala fired off questions making Violet smile softly, “After my parents started working on the base, my father would go on expeditions to planets to find a rescue old sith and jedi texts. Well, he stumbled upon the last planet to still produce the pods and brought some home to us.” She gave the hot beverage to Syala and sat on the opposite side of the bench. She sipped hers, letting the warm beverage fill her with warmth as she looked at Syala, noticing she was about to say something, “Master, you never talk about your family.” Syala started as Violet looked up, “There really wasn't much to say, they died when I was young, I lived with Uncle Chewi till I turned 14 and started to rebuild the base. What about you? You don't exactly talk about your past much either.” She said calmly as she sipped on the hot chocolate. Syala sunk in her seat a little at the mention of her past.
Violet took the nonverbal cue as she didnt want to talk about it, she was filled with sympathy as she placed a soft hand on her shoulder. Syala jumped slightly at the touch, making Violet retract her hand making a note of the jumping, “I will always be here when you're ready Syala.” she spoke quietly as Syala just nodded. After finishing their cups of chocolate and marshmallow goodness, they decided to retire to their own cabins, hoping to get the last bits of sleep before the ship came onto Yavin 4 in the morning.
