Basketball's POV

"B.......B........" I could barely hear the foggy sound. It felt like I was hearing it through the ocean.

"Bas......bal......" I didn't want to hear it.

"Baske....ball!"

Just ignore it....

"BASKETBALL!" My eyes shot open.

Where am I? What's happening?

My head ached like Hell, but I could feel the memories coming back to me. I blinked a few times and looked around. Grassy was crying against me, and I could see multiple people crowded around me. It was a little blurry.

"Are you okay?" Someone held their hand out. I tried to reach out my leg but I was too weak to do even that. I could just shake my head.

Two people went behind my head and propped me up. I struggled to stand and eventually managed to get on my feet, but I had to lean against a wall. My vision cleared up soon enough.

"I'm... really weak..." I managed.

I looked around and realized I wasn't in the pantry anymore. I was in a beige room that I could only assume was Donut's. Looking around I could see that the people here were Donut, Gaty, Fries and Puffball.

"What... um... how did I get here?"

"You passed out back in the pantry. Grassy's been clinging to you this whole time." I felt a sting of guilt.

He'd already lost someone he cared about today, he must have been terrified enough already.

Someone I cared about too...

"Basketball." The voice was a little fuzzy.

"Huh?" I turned back toward the voice.

"You still with us?" Donut looked a little concerned.

"Oh, sorry. I guess I just zoned out." I pushed away from the wall, wobbling a little before steadying and heading the door.

"Maybe you shouldn't head out yet." Gaty suggested.

"I need to go find Tennis Ball. I'm supposed to anyways." I pulled the door open and walked out, and then started to head toward Tennis Ball's room, when I felt Grassy tugging at my leg.

"I wanna come with you!" He pleaded.

"Alright then... I guess I can't really say no." I lifted him up onto my head and went on my way.

Eraser' POV

"Idiot! Idiot! Idiot! I'm such an idiot! I should have known this would happen!" I threw a glass at the wall, watching it shatter and seeing Bell flinch.

"It wasn't your fault, I mean-"

"I know damn well whose fault it was Bell, but I could've kept him from going, and now he's dead! I should've known it would be too damn easy, too simple for us to just get her without any more deaths!"

Then a scream came from the room across the hall.

"Was that..." I broke into a cold sweat.

I threw the door open, Bell rushing after me as I desperately tried to open the door to Foldy's room.

Locked.

I started shouldering the door.

"Get out of the way!" Bell yelled. I ducked as she flung into the door, leaving a larger crack.

"T-that's good, keep doing that!"

Bell continued until the door broke apart, and I dashed in, suddenly wishing I hadn't.

Foldy's cold, empty eyes stared down at us, her lifeless body stapled to the wall in multiple places. Stapy had been shattered into pieces and Marker was snapped in half.

I heard Bell vomit behind me.

"J-Jesus Christ!!" Was all I could say.

What else could I have?

Our team was sliced in half now. And somehow safety in numbers didn't seem so safe anymore.

Nickel's POV

I walked out of my room, holding a knife in case I was attacked, and sat down outside on the steps. I started fiddling with the knife a little, when I heard a soft noise that sounded a little bit like sobbing.

"Hello?" The sound seemed to be coming from off to the side.

Oh right... where we buried the bodies.

I hopped up and walked toward the noise, and came face to face with its source.

"Cake?" He turned around, wiping his face.

"Oh... hi Nickel..." I looked down and saw he was standing at Loser's "grave", a makeshift headstone we had made for each contestant.

"Guess this has been harder on you then on most people, huh?"

He looked at me. "W-well..." He sat down on the grass, pulling his legs in. "I looked up to him... more than you know."

I sat down next to him. "I... I understand how you feel. Even if it's not for the same person." He looked at me.

"Cloudy and Rocky's deaths... they really had an impact on my team. Especially Balloony and Woody. Rocky was... you know... like a kid." I sniffed. "And I guess we all felt responsible for his death. And Cloudy was like a caretaker, kinda like the big brother. We were like a family, y'know?" I shuddered, feeling tears tug at the corners of my eyes. I felt Cake pat me on the back.

"Then, we're in this together." He smiled, trying to look determined, despite the drying tears on his face.

"How heartwarming." The voice made my heart drop.

I turned quickly to see Lollipop standing behind us, holding my knife.

"Shit!" The thought of letting Cake die to save my own skin crossed my mind. After all my team was dwindling as it is, with Roboty never even being able to show up. If I died it would leave only two behind. But...

I can't be like that now. Cake deserves to live more than I do.

I kicked him backward. "Cake, run!!" I yelled, quickly hearing him spring away.

Then a burning pain as the knife went straight into my leg, forcing a scream of agony out of me.

"Surprising. I thought you'd just let him die instead. Oh well, no room for heroes." She grinned maliciously. I somehow knew what she was about to do before she pulled the knife down, slicing my leg straight off. Tears welled up in my eyes before the pain could even register.

"Although, you could prove valuable. After all, your team is hanging by a thread. I'm sure I could use you as leverage if I get cornered." Her face twisted into an evil smirk as the pain started to catch up to me and I felt a scream building up. Before it could break out, she lifted the knife and slammed the handle into the side of my head, and everything went black.

Sincere apologies for taking so long. I don't have much free time because of school, so apologies but please expect only a chapter a week at least. It will probably be like this until the next break.

Anyways, I hope this chapter was worth the wait. I decided I wanted to do more with Cake, so here we are. He'll have a more major role from now on.
