CHAPTER 15

FAMILY SECRET

"You said you were crippled?" Clein asked suspiciously. In her dream she can clearly remember that Allen was indeed cripple and his recovery will be three years from now.

"I was, but I am still on recovery stage. I can walk but I can't walk long distance. Aren't you happy?" Allen said. They are now on the way home after visiting the shop.

"Does it still hurt?" Clein said with worry.

"It's nothing" There was a long pause before Allen continued. 

"I am keeping my recovery baby girl. We have a lot of enemies that are just waiting for our downfall. I got into accident 5 years ago. I was on my way to a business meeting when a group of men chased after me. I was able to suppress them, however one of them throw a improvised bomb at me and there I almost lost my two feet. The doctors said that it was much better to cut it off and both our family and specialists already gave up. However, my grandfather's friend proposed a new treatment that hasn't been formally introduced. Let's just say I was one of the tester of it. It was a long process but it's all worth it." 

This was the reason why Allen don't want to meet her after their engagement 5 years ago. He was afraid that Clein don't want him because of his situation. That it why he undergo the treatment process eventhough it long and painful. It was the only way to face Clein with confidence. Allen wanted Clein to know this but he do not want to feel any remorse out of the situation.

It was the first time she heard this. In that dream she didn't have the chance to know this. She was busy hiding from everything.

"Have you caught the criminal?" Clein asked.

"We are still looking until now. We have suspects but we need enough evidence to accuse them." Clein was silent for a long time.

She knew that these people might be those who killed Allen in that dream.

"We know that the accidents was to lessen our influence on the throne. They want everyone to know that the heir of the Salviera's do not have enough power to support anyone. My family was afraid that those people will do something once they found out my recovery so we keep it to ourselves." Allen continued.

If only she paid attention to him on that dream, she might clues who might those people and help him.

"I'll help you Allen." Clein said with sincerity.

"With you by my side is a great help to me Clein" 

It was not just his whim to marry Clein this early. From his investigation, his enemies are starting to move by digging some information within the family. Allen was afraid that something might happen to Clein and he was away. That is why he instigated to marry her as soon as possible and have her close to him. He needs to speed up his plan. 5 years is enough silent.

Clein just gave Allen a smile. She wanted to ask more but she feel a sudden awkardeness. It was their family's issue and as a new member of their family she needs to observe first. From Allen's behavior, she felt that he was protecting her so getting more information from his husband is impossible for now. 

Clein was thinking who can help her. 

"Uhm how was your sister? Your mom mentioned her before" Yes Clein was thinking that his sister Allexia might help her.

"oh. She's in the military. I don't know when she will be coming back. Don't worry about her. She will like you" Allen reach out her face and gently caress her. Having Clein by his side was like a dream to him. If only she can stay by his side all the time.

"She's cool. It'll be my first time to meet a female soldier" She didn't heard about Allexia until now. In Clein's mind Allexia is a perfect candidate to help her. 

"Average" Allen said confidently but Clein didn't listen. Allen was just overconfident with himself. She didn't know she married a proud husband.
