THE ENGAGEMENT
"This was the Token of the Oath that you gave me" Allen opened a wooden box where Clein's bracelet sat. Tauren was even more surprise. This was the jewel his late wife specifically made for Clein!
"You... you mean you already given your oath and you didn't tell me?" The Duchess almost faint to what she heard.
"Yes, I told you before that I have someone to marry" Allen said in calm tone.
"Oath? what does that mean?" Clein ask.
"We have this sacred tradition in Salviera Family and we follow it religiously. There were oaths that we promised on a certain occasion. Since we are really distended to be a family there is no reason to hide it from you" Meranian said.
"There were four oaths that the family follows, one of them is the oath of marriage. It was celebrated on the day of engagement. Once the oath has been given there is no other way to break it." Duke Timothy said.
"That was he gave you Clein, his oath of marriage. This oath usually be celebrated in a huge feast and this ice block son of yours do not give me the chance to prepare it!" Mareian cried. She wants to experience to prepare the Feast of the oath. When she was engage to Timothy it was so magical that she promised to make more grand engagement for her children.
"It's fine dear. There is still Allexia, you still have the chance" Timothy tried to console his wife. Allexia was the younger sister and twin sister of Allen.
"Allexia? How many years do I have to wait? She buried herself in the military, and she doesn't even want to hear anything about marriage!" Mereian grieved.
Clein felt how the duchess states her grievances. It must be an important tradition of the family.
"Is there no other way to break the engagement?" Clein asked made the three of them speechless. The couple understands the hesitance of Clein because of the tricks of their son. She also felt the cold stares from the man sitting across her.
"There is no other way Clein. Breaking the oath means forsaking the name of the Family. "Timothy explained. Since the family started on the old days, there's no single descendants tried to break the oath. The oah is simply the honor and pride of the family.
"Can I talk to my wife alone?" Allen breaks the awkwardness.
"Yes, yes we must leave the two and let them talk" Tauren agreed. Clein showed a mature behavior in these past few days. He knows that her daughter can talk to Allen maturely.
The three of them took the next door to have lunch.
