Chapter 34 - Let Go

Phoenix Sterling

I opened my eyes and looked around. No shit sherlock. I got up from the bed the second I realized that I'm not in the hospital anymore. I walked to the window and saw the headquarters currently going under construction.

"You're awake?" I turned my head to see Dean walking in with my medical chart.

"Why did you bring me here?! Is Lana okay?" I walked to him angrily and Dean looked at me coldly. He gestured me to sit on the bed.

"I need to see her.." I said in an angry tone but Dean ignored me.

"You'll see her when your condition is stable enough." He said in his serious and cold tone. He gestured me to sit on the bed and I do as he told me.

"Is she okay?"

"She's okay." I know that Dean doesn't like the idea of me caring about Lana. He checked my condition and he looked at my scars.

"I want you to have a bed rest, I will have you do an MRI check again later on." He said as he wrote in my medical chart.

"I'm fine, I feel fine."

"If you're fine, you should have wake up that day. You passed out for 3 days." I turned to him in horror and he closed the chart.

"You'll be on my watch from now until I decide to let you go, don't worry about Lana. She's doing great.." Dean said and then he walked out from the room. I know for sure that he locked the door so I can't get out.

I don't have any other choice but to stay here for awhile because I don't want to piss off Dean or else I don't get to see Lana. I know what he's capable of and instead of going against him.. let's just go with his flow.

"You know you can't separate them both for too long. They both need each other." I said to Dean as we both looked at Phoenix wandering around the room.

"He doesn't need her, he has all of us." Dean said in a cold tone.

"I know you care for Phoenix but he has his own track now." He turned to me pissed and I raised my hands so he won't get mad at me.

"You know the consequences, he might be ready but I'm not." Dean said and walked away. I turned to see him walking away and I chuckled. I decided to walk into Phoenix room to see how he's been doing.

"You need to get me out of here." He said before I even close the door.

"I saved your ass once and I got suspension from Dean from working my projects. I'm not helping you again." I said and Phoenix kept walking back and forth frustrated.

"She's doing fine, she just need some rest. She's been asking about you too but I suggest you have a rest too. Dean has been worrying about you because you didn't wake up for 3 days."

"I'm fine, okay? I'm doing great." He said and I chuckled.

"You're ready to leave this place?" I asked as I looked out the window. Phoenix stood beside me and he sighed.

"I don't know."

"You know the consequences, Phoenix." I said as I put my hands in my pocket.

"I care about her.. a lot. When I heard she got kidnapped, I snapped. It feels like my whole world crashing down as well, everything felt like a slow motion." I chuckled when I heard him saying it.

"I know it sounds crazy but.. I really care about her. At the same time, I'm not ready to leave ILLICIT. I love every one of you and love this work but we can't back out from the original deal. It's either stay or leave." Phoenix said and he's right.

All of us 5 love this job, we have passion for it and the thoughts of someone leaving is still unreal. If Phoenix end up leaving one day because he choose Lana, I'll support him. He will be always be a part of us still.

"I told Lana about my life and she said to me that I should live my life to the fullest. I'm 26 and I did live a really rough life before, once I get a little taste of happiness.. it will be hard for me to go back."

"I know one day, we all will settle down. It's only the matter of time and ego. We're not ready to give up everything just yet." I said as I looked at the gate being building again since Finn's men ruined it.

"Even though Lana is around, I'm still me. Dean seems to hate the way I act these days, I feel like I'm still me but a little better version of me."

"You know him, he's not the best person at accepting the truth. I don't think he likes Lana either." I said and Phoenix chuckled.

"He'll come around, Phoenix. You know he will, we're all his little brothers. He just needs time to process and accept that all of us doesn't need him all the time anymore." I patted Phoenix's shoulder and he nodded.

"Rest well, I'll update you about Lana. She's doing great and you should heal faster so you can see her." I said.

"Thankyou." Phoenix smiled and I nodded. I walked out from his room and walked down to the lobby. When I was walking to the other building, my phone rang and it's none other than the Queen herself.

"Yes, mother?"

"Adrian, when will you come visit me and your father? We miss you." She said it right away.

"I'm busy, mother."

"Don't be a brad and come here or I'll come go to London." She hissed.

"I'm not in London right now so if you go there.. you won't be able to see me." I laughed hearing her cursing under her breath.

"Your father's birthday is next week, you better come back and celebrate with us."

"I will, don't worry."
