Chloë and Lacey exchange a look before bursting into fits of laughter. I had just finished telling them what I thought had happened to Sam.
"It's not funny!" I tell them. "I honestly thought that he had jumped."
"No it's not the almost suicide that's the hilarious. It's the fact that you thought he had based on his phone coordinates,"Chloe explains.
"Seriously," Lacey adds,"Teens aren't that attached to their phones."
I see where they're coming from. "I just overreacted, okay? I was scared that I would never see him again."
"Would that be so bad?"
"Yes!" I can't believe them.
Lacey rolls her eyes. "I mean it's not like you're into him still."
I'm silent.
"Right?" Chlo asks. I still don't answer. "Oh god. You know, you're my first friend who I honestly believed was an idiot."
"Thank you," Lacey places a hand over her heart. "But there's a first time for everything."

Ugh, I was hungry but I didn't know what I wanted. I stared at the lunch options, thank god it's Friday. The week always seems to end right when I'm getting sick of their hot-lunches.
I watched the lunch lady watch me, try and pick out my food. "Can you please pick something, you're holding up the line." I give her an apologetic look.
"Sorry, um do you like the sliced ham, I've never tried it." I say, shyly.
"Well, there's a first time for everything," she says plopping it in my tray.
Frowning, slightly, I make my way over to Drew. I perk up as I sit down by him. I kiss his cheek. Before we can get a calm conversation going, Kylie walks in with flushed cheeks and tears in her eyes.
I look at Drew, we both know something has happened. "What is it?" I ask, softly.
"Sam," is all she manages to get out before she breaks down.
I pat her back in comfort. "What about Sam?"
"He- he said we shouldn't be friends anymore," Kylie tries really hard to keep her composure but she's failing. "How c-can he th-th-throw eight years of friendship away?"
"What, exactly, did he say?" Drew asks. "Because this doesn't really sound like Sam."
"He s-said that we need to," and puts air quotes around this,"take a break. Like what does that mean?"
"I think it means, that he doesn't want to love you anymore." I say, honestly.
She stops. She thinks, I see the gears turning in her brain. "Is that what's happening?" I nod, trying to be supportive but also convincing. "I've never had that happen before."
"Well," I say, glancing at my lunch,"there's a first time for everything."

"Okay boys, we have a new member of the team. Everyone, this is Sam Wisemen." Coach introduces me to the boxing team.
They don't seem to care all to much. I'm a nice guy, you know, friendly, funny, charismatic, but honestly I don't think I've ever spoken to one of these guys before.
