My differences between Mafia and Gang (therefore may not be accurate):

Mafia: Group of men and/or women who have legal businesses that are a forefront to the illegal businesses that they participate in. They also have an influence in the law and law enforcement.

Gang: Group of men and/or women who do illegal work in the 'open'. They have no influence in the law, in fact they despise those who work in the law.

Minor characters in the book will not know the difference. So they will be used interchangeably in conversations. But if you are confused at any point, I will clarify for you. Just leave a comment and I will get back to you.

Towson, Oregon

Towson is a city much like Seattle, Washington. It has a large lake beside it and was actually built off a settlement beside the lake. Towson is a very business oriented in the center of the city. Downtown has most businesses and stores. Uptown is more suburbs and residential. The Eastside is where most violent crime happens. It has it's own police and detective forces. The entirety of Towson has a population of approximately 710,000.

(Completely made up city. Not a real place. Made up for this novel.)

The Police Station

The Police Station is Ana's place of work. A lot of time is spent here working at her desk with Jones. It's like any other police station, but the detective's desks are separated from the public. The M.E office is downstairs in the basement. The interview rooms are on the second floor. And the CSI is on the third floor.

Anastasia's Apartment

Ana's apartment is her sacred space. It's a small two bedroom apartment - one being her actual bedroom and the other, an office. Most of the apartment is white with hints of blue sprinkled around. Ana keeps her apartment extremely clean and organized. The apartment is near a park so Ana takes her pup on walks every evening.

(The only difference is that instead of two sofas, there's a sectional. And the side closest to the balcony has a blue doggy bed for Ana's dog.)
