This chapter is firstly dedicated to @meganhxaly for being the sweetest and writing the best Civil War and Ironfam fanfics. Go check them out! Also, as you can probably tell, online school kinda sucks right now so I'm going to write about Peter, Morgan, and Harley going through it too. :)
Triggers: Crying I guess? Minor mental breakdown. Ships: Pepperony. Characters: Ironfam w/out Nebula.
Peter Parker Stark clicked out of his last Zoom class of the day and heard a noise. His Spidey Sense, or Peter Tingle as Tony and Happy refused to stop calling it, was going off. He knew someone was in trouble. He carefully followed the sound and realized it was crying.
Peter cautiously opened the door to his little sister's room and found 6-year-old Morgan Stark softly crying at her desk, her laptop closed.
"Hey, baby Stark! You okay?" He asked softly, gently kneeling next to her.
She turned to look at Peter, tears in her eyes, and his heart melted. "I wanna go to school, Pete. I don't want to stare at my stupid screen all day, and I want to hug my friends. I want this all to be a bad dream and just be over!" She burst into sobs, and Peter's heart broke for her. The 16-year-old wasn't doing much better, but at the moment all he wanted to do was make sure his little sister was okay.
"I know, lil M. I know," he whispered as he pulled her into a hug, trying to protect her from 2020 and the world around her, trying to make her feel safe and happy. If he couldn't make himself comfortable, he could at least dang well make Morguna as comfy as possible.
"Bro, I just had the suckiest day of school ever, and--" Harley Keener Stark started to say, and stopped abruptly as he saw the scene in Morgan's room. "Oh, my little dudes, what's wrong?" He ran to them and joined in the group hug, ruffling Peter's hair and booping Morgan's nose. They both smiled at him; as the oldest sibling, 17-year-old Harley was someone both of the younger Stark kids looked up to.
"Oh, ya know, Morgan had a hard day at school, and I just wanted to make sure she way ok--" But Harley interrupted Peter. "Hey, listen. I know you love being a big brother, but I'm your big brother. And I know you had a hard day too. It's okay to not be okay, Peter. And you know that I will always be here for you, for both of you! Got it, squirts?" He made a silly face at them.
Laughing, Peter gave him a noogie. "Don't call me squirt, you as--uhh butthole," he said as they both side-eyed Morgan. She of course burst into giggles, because when you're six butthole is the funniest thing ever. As she laughed happily, Peter and Harley gave each other tired smiles. Their baby sister was okay, and that's all that mattered.
"Hey guys, I heard crying, is everything okay?" Tony said as he and Pepper walked into the room. The sight they were met with immediately warmed their hearts as they took in Harley, Peter, and Morgan cuddled on her bedroom's floor, laughing and teasing each other. The couple gave each other a private smile, ecstatic that their adopted sons and their daughter were so close.
"It's--it's just we all had a bit of a rough day of school," Harley spoke up, and their parents looked closely at his tired face, Peter trying not to cry, and Morgan who already had tears in her eyes.
Tony smiled, and gently wiped her eyes, holding her close. He held out his arms for Peter and Harley, and they gladly went into their dad's embrace, secretly happy to not have to act strong for a little. Pepper wrapped her arms around them, and the happy family of five just sat for a moment on the floor, slowly starting to feel better.
"You know," Tony said gently. "Pep and I had a pretty hard day at Stark Industries too. Working from home is exhausting and boring, and I know it sometimes feels like there's nothing to look forward too. But there is, okay? We are always, and I mean always, there for you guys. Harls, Pete, I love how strong you try to be, but it's okay to just be teens sometimes, to just let yourselves focus on high school. You both are so smart and focused, and you're amazing kids. And Morguna, my little girl, you are being so brave and smart during this. Not many 1st graders are this talented and focused--I'm so proud of you! We are so proud of all of you. And so what, we all had a bad day. Everyone has a bad day, even your super mom over here! Even Iron Man. Now, I think this calls for a Disney and ice cream day. So, what do you say?"
"In fact," Pepper continues, squeezing her husband's hand. "I think that you guys don't even have to do your chores. Let's let Daddy do them today, huh? See if he can put his ego away long enough to do the dishes," she said mischeviously. Harley and Peter laughed, shaking their heads, and Morgan giggled excitedly and clapped her little hands.
"Yeah yeah, fine fine. Crazy kids, and Pep, you're really hurting me. So deep," Tony cried dramatically, pretending to faint. His kids just shoved him playfully, rolling their eyes at their overdramatic dad.
"Okay, ironfam, let's go watch an obscene amount of Disney movies and eat ice cream till we're all fat!" Pepper said with a grin, poking Morgan in the belly and ruffling her boys' hair.
With a smile, they all walked out of Morgan's room hand in hand, the horrible online school and work day forgotten.
They were happy, cause they were together as a family. The ironfam.
