I woke up the next morning pretty early as I had practice later. After drinking a large glass of water, I decided to check my phone. I was dreading it and the messages I knew I would get, but hey, the earlier you do it the faster it's over right?

First I sent a message to tate

Hey, sorry for not replying. combo of dead phone and being pissed off. thanks for helping last night, ur the goat

I waited for a response, and a minute later my phone rang.

Tater-tot

no problem, what are besties for. anything you wanna talk about? Mia is going out tonight so we can have guys night.

I chuckled at tate's message. Yes, I was a tomboy, but I still found it funny he always called it guy's night.

can't today, me and lia have plans. maybe tomorrow though.

I hesitated before sending another message.

how's Alex? i feel bad for ditching him

Tater-tot

he's fine lol, just a bit worried.

I nodded, sending another quick reply before looking at the other messages.

Aussie boy

hey chandler, idk what's wrong but i hope you're okay. if you're free today me and some friends were gonna go to waimea or something... just lmk

thanks Alex, but I can't today. i made plans with a girl friend after practice :(

Aussie boy

you have those?! jkjk, have fun, we can always go another time

haha of course, see ya later!

Finally, I mustered up the courage to look at the string of messages from Kai. It was mostly profuse apologies from the night before, "I was drunk, I wasn't thinking, I'm so sorry". I didn't feel like dealing with it so I simply got ready for practice.

At 11 am sharp I heard the sound of my friend Amelia's car pull into the driveway, so I grabbed all my gear and headed outside.

I had known Amelia for almost as long as I had known tate. We were both from the mainland and both loved soccer, so our friendship came easily. However, we were pretty opposite when it came to everything else. Lia as I liked to call her, was terrified of the ocean, and refused to ever go past her waist in the water. Total shopping addict, loved romantic comedies, and had a totally different track record when it came to boys. But that made me like her even more. She's the kind of girl that's super popular, but down to Earth and loved by everyone.

We practiced together, her being a kick ass defense player that complimented my offense very well. After running drills, we went back to her place to change. Both of us had made plans to go shopping for school clothes, and then just hang out doing whatever we could find.

After about two hours of wandering the island, we sat at a table near a children's playground.

"So......" she started. I knew that voice and I stopped her from saying anything else.

"Lia, I love you but I swear to God if one more person asks me about Alex I'm gonna lose it."

She immediately started laughing, and though I was mostly serious. I couldn't help but laugh as well. She didn't pester me about that any further, but she did make a suggestion that I loved.
