"Right when I got back. I was going to tell you right away but I kind of figured this would be a better time. I don't know, but today should be about us." "Okay, but you at least have to tell me the basics right now. You can't leave me hanging with this." tate put the oreos to the side and scooted over to face me.
"Well, we were supposed to get back late in the day, but our flights got mixed up so we got back early. And I had this cute little gift I was going to give her, but when I tried to call her her phone wouldn't pick up. So i snapchatted her and it wasn't working either. And when I went to her house her parents weren't home, so I used the spare key.
When I opened her door she was... you know."
"Oh tate, I'm so sorry." His eyes were brimming with tears and he sniffled a bit before continuing.
"She gave me the same lame ass excuses but I didn't even care enough to listen, I just went straight back home and blocked her on everything. Know what the worst part is?"
"I don't even want to try to guess." he chuckled sadly, looking, at the water, then at me.
"It was the guy who asked her to the fucking winter ball. The same stupid eighth grader that she went to the dance with, she cheated on me with him. But that's not the worst part, Chan."
At this point I was confused. I knew he was hurting, I understood everything too.
"The worst part is, I seem upset, but honestly? I'm more happy about it. Yeah it sucks, but now I realize how toxic she was. I never should have dated her but now I'm free."
I nodded slightly, pulling him in for a hug. We stayed like that for a while before deciding to call it a night.
Tate dropped me off and I did my normal routine of showering and cleaning up a bit before grabbing my phone to post one of the many pictures we took today.
