Chapter 9: Thicker Than Water

Y/N POV

Javi enters the room; Lingard is passed out in a chair and your is rifling through the cupboards. Clem is laying on the bed, asleep.

Javier: "Y/N?"

Y/N: "Shit. Javi, what happened to you?" You stand up from the cupboards and cross your arms.

Javier: "Ran into a little trouble..."

Y/N: "Whoa. That looks like it must've hurt."

Javier: "I just need to get it cleaned up."

Y/N: "You surprised me. Thought you were someone else."

Javier: "Who were you expecting?"

Y/N: "I know this wouldn't exactly look innocent to Joan or David."

Javier: "Is it innocent?"

Y/N: "Yes. I guess. I think so. I'm mostly here to talk to Lingard about where AJ is now." Clem sits up from the bed.

Clementine: "Anyway, we can't leave Richmond with that herd out there."

Javier: "Something tells me Lingard doesn't care what you're doing."

Clementine: "He's been out of it since we got here." She gets off of the bed and stands next to you.

Javi checks Lingard's pulse.

Javier: "He's alive. Poor dumb bastard."

Y/N: "That's gonna need more than just cleaning, Javi. I can stitch that for you. I can't promise it'll look great once it heals. It's better than nothing, though."

Javier: "Alright, go for it. But if I lose my arm, that's on you."

Clementine: "Ha. Ha. You'll be fine. He's dealt with worse."

Y/N: "Huh. Let me see if I can find a needle and thread for that."

Clem groans and grabs her abdomen.

Javier: "Clem..are you okay?"

Clementine: "Yeah, Y/N. Can you. Leave the room for a sec?" You nod and step outside the closed door.

Clementine: "I'm fine. I started...bleeding. I know it's a thing. I've traveled with women before, and they all had it. What is it? I--I mean, like, why is it--I just don't understand."

Javier: "It means you're...growing up. Blossoming into your, you know, like, womanhood...your body is developing and--things change. But it'll be okay."

Clementine: "Okay."

Javier: "I can take you back to Kate. She can help you with, uh..."

Clementine: "Javi, worry about yourself right now. We need to find a needle and thread to stitch you up first."

Javi knocks on the door for you to come in and you do so, your guessing he didn't know you could hear them. Javi opens up a drawer and pulls out a box of pads.

Javier: "Hey! This is just what you're looking for." (gives box of pads to Clem) "They help you handle it. Kate'll...take care of you."

Javi searches the medical kit.

Javier: "Jackpot! Needle and thread. All sterilized and ready to go."

Javi gives the needle and thread to you.

Y/N: "Think I remember how to do this."

Javi takes off his shirt and sits down. You pour alcohol on a rag.

Y/N: "Okay. Hold still. Try not to breathe."

You clean the wound.

Javier: "Look, I know I'm probably not the best person to talk to about that stuff before..." He seems to talk to Clem.
