It was your final year at Hogwarts, a bittersweet time filled with nostalgia and anticipation. Your now ex-boyfriend, Oliver Wood, had graduated a year ahead of you, leaving behind a swirl of memories from your relationship that began in your third year. Though neither of you had stopped loving each other, the pressures of a long-distance relationship became too much. After trying to make it work amid rising obligations—his busy schedule and your own—they both pulled you in different directions, and with heavy hearts, you agreed to let each other go and find freedom.
On the day of the battle, a suffocating dread hung in the air, casting a shadow over the castle you had called home for so many years. It was a scene of utter devastation as the walls echoed with the cries of the wounded and the crack of spells being cast. The sight of your friends and comrades fighting for their lives filled you with a sense of helplessness. You could hardly believe the horrific reality unfolding before your eyes, with flashes of green light and the chaotic sounds of conflict surrounding you.
Driven by desperation and a fierce determination to protect those you loved, you joined the fray, your heart racing as you launched spells at the encroaching Death Eaters. Each incantation was fueled by fear and fury as you aimed to take down those who threatened everything you held dear. In an instant, chaos escalated; your wand was suddenly knocked from your grasp, tumbling away into the turmoil, leaving you momentarily disarmed in the heart of battle.
"Ow! Shit!" The words escaped your lips as sharp pain jolted through your body. You hurriedly dashed towards your wand, which lay abandoned on the cold, hard ground. In an instant, you felt a powerful grip around your waist, yanking you off your feet. A scream tore from your throat, panic surging in your chest as you flailed in the air, not knowing who had taken you.
You found yourself thrown onto the back of a sleek broomstick, the wind whipping through your hair and the ground spinning below you. Heart racing, you turned to see the figure looming behind you. A flash of bright red light illuminated the darkening sky, revealing the sinister face of a Death Eater just moments away from striking you down. just then, you looked at who had pulled you off the ground.
"Oliver?" you called out, squinting as you tried to make sense of the figure hovering in front of you, the light shimmering around him.
"Hey there, princess," he replied, a warm smile spreading across his face as he quickly turned to look at you before swooping down. In one graceful motion, he snatched your wand from the ground, his movements fluid and confident, and then shot back into the air.
"What are you doing here?" you asked, the words slipping out before you could stop them, feeling a bit foolish for not already knowing the answer.
"Why else would I be here? To fight, of course," he said with a determined glint in his eyes. "Are you alright?" he asked, glancing back at you, concern etched on his handsome features.
"I appreciate your help, but I could have handled that alone." You say knowing damn well you probably would have been dead if it weren't for Oliver saving you.
"Oh Y/N, still so stubborn as always, but if it weren't for me, you would be dead. I killed the bloody death eater right before he killed ya, but I'm sure you had it." He chuckles playfully,
"Alright, maybe I didn't have it after all!" You can't help but roll your eyes, feeling both amused and slightly annoyed by his lightheartedness.
"Just stick with me for now," he replies, trying to take charge. You nod, a warm, encouraging smile lighting up his face.
