You said goodbye to your friend, watching her wave as you turned to make your way to class. As you walked down the bustling hallway, Oliver spotted your friend and quickly made his way over to her.
"Y/f/n!" he called out, his voice cutting through the chatter of students. He fell into step beside her, matching her pace with an easy stride.
"Oliver Wood?" she replied, raising an eyebrow in surprise, her expression a mix of confusion and curiosity. The laughter and chatter around them faded as she tried to comprehend his sudden appearance.
"Hey sorry to bother you but I had a quick question...Y/n... is she dating anyone?" Oliver asked her surprisingly calm.
"No, why?" She asked cluelessly before realizing.
*Gaasssspppp*
"Oh my gosh! YOU LIKE Y/N!" She squealed with excitement.
"Shhh, yeah, I like her. I really like her, but you can't tell her yet," he says, quieting y/f/n down.
"Okay, okay, don't worry; I promise I won't say anything," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she leaned in closer, her voice barely above a whisper. "But seriously, when are you going to tell her?"
Oliver hesitated, running a hand through his hair, uncertainty clouding his expression. "I don't know yet," he admitted, feeling a mix of apprehension and confusion about what his next move should be.
"You should definitely do it soon!" she urged, her enthusiasm palpable. "And don't even stress about the possibility of rejection; it happens to everyone at some point." Her words, meant to inspire courage, only made Oliver's stomach twist with nerves.
"Gee, thanks for the amazing pep talk," he replied sarcastically, rolling his eyes as he tried to mask his anxiety with humor.
"Oh, sorry about that! I mean, don't even worry about it," she reassures him with a warm smile. "I'm almost positive she's going to say, 'Yes, you got this!'" Her encouraging tone is meant to uplift Oliver's spirits.
"Thanks," Oliver responds, his voice tinged with a mix of hope and anxiety.
"I have to head to class now," Y/f/n says with a reassuring smile. The excitement in her voice matches the skip of excitement followed by the quickened pace of her footsteps into the bustling classroom. But I won't wait forever to do it." She pokes her head around the door, giving Oliver a wink before walking into the classroom.
After their last classes, you find yourself meeting Y/f/n in the courtyard, a lovely space filled with the golden afternoon light filtering through the trees. You both settle into one of the cool, stone arches, the historic structure offering a quiet retreat amidst the lively atmosphere.
"Y/f/n, why are you acting so strange today?" you ask, a playful smile on your lips, though confusion dances in your eyes. "You're usually so hyper and bubbly, but today feels different."
"What do you mean? I don't think I'm acting weird," she says, trying to act as normal as possible.
She then looks like she has seen a ghost.
"Y/f/n, what is up with you?" you ask, even more confused, as you look to her. When you look behind you to where she was looking, all you see is people.
"Nothing, uhm, I promise," She says as she sees that Oliver Wood is approaching you.
"Hey, y/n and y/f/n," Oliver says as he approaches the both of you.
"Hi Oliver," you say before y/f/n shortly after responding with "Hey...Oliver...wow, weird seeing you here," Your friend says awkwardly, trying to act normal.
As he approached, his heart raced beneath the facade of casual confidence he tried to project. Avoiding eye contact for a moment, then looked up with a hopeful glint in his eyes. "Hey, I just wanted to see if you're busy this Friday?" he asked his voice light but carrying an undercurrent of nervous anticipation.
You paused, a teasing smile forming on your lips as you caught the hint of what he was really asking. "No, I'm not," you replied, deliberately keeping your tone relaxed. Deep down, your mind raced with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. Trying to maintain your composure, you noticed your friend beside you, practically vibrating with energy as if they were the ones in the spotlight. Their playful expressions and exaggerated gasps added to the hilarity of the moment, and you shared an amused glance with Oliver, both unable to suppress your laughter at the absurdity of the scene unfolding before you.
"Do you wanna maybe do something together on Friday?" He asks, a little more nervous.
"Like a date Y/n...He's asking you on a date" your friend exclaims, her eyes sparkling with excitement. You and Oliver share a laugh, the lightness of the moment lifting your spirits as she playfully squeezes your arm. Taking a breath to steady your nerves, you reply with a casual grin, "Absolutely! That sounds like a lot of fun," all while trying to maintain an air of nonchalance.
"Really? That's wonderful! I can't wait," Oliver replies, his cheeks flushing a soft pink as a wide, genuine smile spreads across his face.
You can't help but notice how your friend's expression resembles that of a little puppy eager to be reunited with its owner. Her eyes sparkle with enthusiasm, and she can barely contain herself.
"Oh my gosh, Y/N! Oliver Wood just asked you out!" she exclaims, her voice bursting with excitement as she bounces up and down in her seat.
"Yes, y/f/n, I know—I was right there," you respond, laughter bubbling up inside you as you try to contain your amusement.
"Don't worry! I'll help you with everything. This is so thrilling; I can hardly wait to see how it all unfolds!" she says eagerly, her eyes wide with anticipation.
