THIRD PERSON POV
—Elizabeth didn't know why, but ever since she was a child she had been fascinated by the world above the ocean. The surface.
Perhaps it was the intriguing fairytales of creatures called humans that supposedly roamed the earth. She laughed at the thought as she was slumped against a warm, sun bathed rock near the shore.
She enjoyed this place. In the forest beyond the beach she would sometimes see squirrels jump from tree to tree, deers taking a peek down at the oceans, and so many different birds. She had read all about those creatures. It was beautiful.
But then, suddenly she saw a creature she'd never seen before emerge from the trees. The unknown figure startled her and she dived back into the water that now felt cold against her skin.
Through the water she was able to make out the figure as it went to sit on a rock closer to the shore.
So many thoughts shot through her as she carefully kept on watching.
From what she had seen of the figure before she dived...it looked like a human.
She gasped at her own thought process.Elizabeth shook her head, trying to clear her mind if that image. There was no way she had seen that.
They were fairytales. Humans didn't exist.
But then, what was it she was looking at?Suddenly she heard the sound of something collide with the waters surface.
She looked I'm to see a thing floating on top of the water, but from that extended a string with something that looked like a hook.
Her curiosity took over as she wanted to know what the purpose of that thing was.
She circled it a few times as it was swayed back and forth, but then she made the mistake of reaching out for it.
The sway of it made of collide with her hand, and in a slight shock she went to pull her hand away, only to have the hook embedded in her finger.
"Ouch!" She whined but clapped a hand over her mouth, hoping the creature of the shore hadn't heard. She was scared, and it was evident by her hurried attempt to take the hook out, but the smallest of tugs made it hurt so her brain forced her to go slowly, yet erratically.
Unfortunately for her she didn't know that by doing that she had tugged at the line, making it seem like she was a fish ready to be dragged in, and that is just what happened. She grabbed onto the string holding to halt the movements, but it just kept slipping right through her fingers.
It's felt as though her finger was about to tear off, so seeing no other way out she began swimming upwards.
As she surfaced water flew of around her obscuring her view for a moment.
So when she focused in on the creature on the shore, he was already standing looking at her with wide eyes.Seeing him closely like this there was no doubt in her mind. She was standing before what had only been described to her as a fairytale.
A human.
He had messy golden locks swaying in the ocean breeze, back and forth in front of his sea green eyes.
He had a dark green shirt on, without sleeves, open in the front showing off his muscles and a necklace with a shark tooth at the end.She felt as though she shouldn't look at him, so she focused her eyes down on her finger. Now that she was out of the water she could easily see just how much it was bleeding.
"Take this out.." she told him as she raised her hand forward.Moments of silence passed Before the human finally spoke.
"What?"
He was seeing a true living mermaid before him, sitting there in the water bathed by the sun, showing off her beauty.
He did not expect those words to come out of her mouth, he hadn't even realized that she was the one stuck on this hook."Take i-it out...it...it's youre right?" She was suddenly missing her edge from before.
The situation was scary and overwhelming, so it was no wonder she was in shock.
